Unveiled! Hawaii's 1961 long-form birth certificates

Images of two 1961 Hawaii birth certificates similar to the one President Obama purportedly has on file have now been unveiled.

The Honolulu Advertiser published photostats of the original long-form birth certificates of twin daughters born to Eleanor Nordyke at Kapi'olani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital Aug. 5, 1961, one day after Obama was supposedly born at the same facility.

The Nordykes' certificates include information missing from the short-form document for Obama published online, including the name of the hospital, the name of the attending physician, name and address of the parents, the race of the parents and the race of the baby.

As WND reported yesterday, Hawaii's director of health responded to the growing controversy over the White House's

refusal to release Obama's original long-form birth certificate by issuing a statement about the document in apparent contravention of Hawaiian law.

Dr. Chiyome Fukino declared she has seen the "original birth records" that verify Obama was born in Hawaii and is a "natural-born American citizen," the Honolulu Advertiser reported.

Walter Cronkite, the Racecar Driver! Yes you read it right!

“Is that Walter Cronkite?” I asked.

“Yes, it is,” answered Donald Davidson, an auto racing historian with an encyclopedic memory.

We were watching old racing movies — this was many years ago — and I spied Mr. Cronkite in a segment of an old Indianapolis 500 race.

“Cronkite came to the Indianapolis 500 many times,” recalled Mr. Davidson, who is now historian for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s museum. “Usually he was the guest of team owner Lindsey Hopkins. Not many people know that in the 1950s Cronkite was an aspiring race driver and was apparently quite talented.”

Indeed, the author Brock Yates remembered Mr. Cronkite, who died Friday at the age of 92, was a regular at racetracks like Bridgehampton on Long Island, as early as 1949. Mr. Cronkite would come with his friends, like the “Today” show host Dave Garroway and the actor Jackie Cooper, who was racing his own Austin-Healey, Mr. Yates wrote in his book, “Against Death and Time.”

Mr. Cronkite was also a regular at Manhattan eateries that were popular with racers, like Le Chanteclair, which was owned by the former Formula One racer Rene Dreyfus, and Sardi’s. And Mr. Cronkite was an early member of the Madison Avenue Sports Car and Chowder Society, a group of automotive journalists, sports-car enthusiasts and racers.

Records are sketchy from this era, for those sleuthing to learn how many races Mr. Cronkite might have started, how he finished or what he drove. But there are bits and pieces. He apparently raced not only at Bridgehampton Raceway, which has since closed, but also at Lime Rock in Connecticut and Watkins Glen in upstate New York.

Mr. Cronkite drove several times in the Little Le Mans endurance races in the late 1950s at Lime Rock, in a Volvo PV444. He once finished as high as third over all; he took home the winner’s trophy, however, for coming in first in his class.

“He drove in the 12 Hours of Sebring once, 1959, I believe, and he filed radio reports for CBS between shifts,” Mr. Davidson said Monday in an e-mail exchange.

Indeed, Mr. Cronkite is listed as driving a Lancia Appia Zagato with two other drivers in the 1959 Sebring classic; they finished fifth in their class and 40th over all (a record 74 percent of starters finished that year). This was a tough crowd in which to hold one’s own; others in the field included the overall winners Phil Hill, Dan Gurney, Olivier Gendebien and Chuck Daigh, along with the Formula One legends Bruce McLaren and Stirling Moss.

Mr. Cronkite was well acquainted with Mr. Moss and interviewed him on several occasions. Mr. Cronkite reported for CBS on a number of races in which Mr. Moss competed, including the Monaco Grand Prix (seen in the video above, via the Lawrence Journal-World).

Mr. Cronkite was an avid sports reporter in those days, and when the Olympics were televised for the first time, in 1960 from Squaw Valley, Calif., Mr. Cronkite was the on-site anchor for CBS’s coverage.

But Mr. Cronkite’s racing career fell victim to his aspirations at CBS.

“His bosses told him that if he wanted to go anyplace in the news business, he had to give up racing,” Mr. Davidson noted. “It was just too dangerous –- and it was in those days –- and they didn’t want to put anyone on the air who might be maimed or killed at any given moment.”

Drivers, fans gather at former stock car track in Danbury

Editors note: I grew up in New Milford Ct. and attended the races at Danbury for years, working on the team of popular driver Kenny Webb. As most short tracks today can barely get by, Danbury was jammed packed every Saturday night with up to 10,000 screaming fans. Some 30 years later, former fans still come to the reunions in droves to meet their favorite, but aging stars!

Racearenareunion DANBURY, Conn. - On Saturdays for nearly 30 years - interrupted only by a few years fighting the Korean War - Nick Giardina raced Ford flatheads and overheads around the 1,800-foot speedway that surrounded the Danbury Fairgrounds, hitting speeds of about 100 mph on the straightaways, a little less on the curves.

Progress ended all that in 1981 for Giardina - and for hundreds of other drivers and the thousands of fans who packed the grandstands to watch them - when the fairground was paved over to make way for a mall with a similar name.

"It was the biggest thing," said Giardina, 77, a Katonah resident and a retired truck driver. "Nothing like it. We were the most popular track around. They'd fill the stands every Saturday night. I don't know how many thousands it held."

Yesterday, Giardina joined hundreds of other drivers and fans to relive their stock car glory at the annual reunion of the Southern New York Racing Association, which was launched at a dirt track in Valhalla in 1948 and moved to Brewster in 1950 and then to Danbury in 1952.

The event was held at Western Connecticut State University, where the blue rubber floor was crowded with low-slung chassis with fat tires and oversized engines poking through their hoods - some looking like they could go airborne - ogled by a lot of guys with graying ponytails.

"It's a young man's sport now," Randy LaJoie, the 1981 champion in the Modified Sportsman division at the Danbury track and the 1983 rookie of the year in NASCAR's Busch North Series, said in between autographs. "You got to be 20 and pretty. My mirror tells me I'm neither."Danbury

LaJoie, 47, was enticed to stock car racing by his father, Don, a five-time champion on the Danbury track, and first raced when he was legally old enough at 18. He said he misses the Racearena, as it was called, but credits its demise with launching his NASCAR career.

He moved from Norwalk, Conn., to Concord, N.C, shortly after the track closed and now owns a business that manufactures safety seats for race cars, but he said he misses Danbury.

"There's no place in the country that had the atmosphere, and I've been to hundreds of racetracks," he said. "The people - it was like a cult. Every driver had a following. They sat in groups, and they might have fought. The purse up here was amazing compared to today."

Winning purses were based on a night's admission. LaJoie said his father sometimes took home as much as $8,000 on a Saturday night.

"If they didn't close it," he said, "I'd still be here."

Animal-Rights Fanatic to Be Obama’s Next “Czar”?

Glenn Beck reports that an animal-rights fanatic is on track to become President Obama’s regulatory czar. That individual is the radical legal theorist Cass Sunstein who has argued that: your money doesn’t really belong to you because the government laid the foundations for your success; Internet censorship is a good idea; animals should be allowed to sue people; the names of carbon dioxide emitters should be compiled as part of a “greenhouse gas inventory” and publicized to shame those emitters into changing their behavior; and Americans’ support for property rights and freedom of contract is an “incoherent” form “of so-called individualism.” Beck noted that Sunstein co-wrote Nudge, a paternalistic book in which he argued that people need to be encouraged to make the right choices in their personal lives. David Martosko of the Center for Consumer Freedom described Sunstein as a close friend of President Obama’s who happens to be a “raving animal rights nut.” “He is a philosopher in the mold of Peter Singer,” explained Martosko. Singer, an animal rights fanatic who also believes that human parents should be legally permitted to kill a “severely disabled” infant up to 28 days after its birth, recently wrote in a New York Times op-ed that healthcare rationing (for people) is both moral and good public policy. Martosko said Sunstein, whom the president has nominated to be administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs at the Office of Budget and Management, believes “government has to lead you by the nose in every facet of life.” Sunstein believes that all of your rights exist only because the federal government allows you to have them....Read more...Animal-Rights Fanatic to Be Obama’s Next “Czar”? >>>>>>>

Apollo 11 astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin salutes U.S. flag on moon, July 20, 1969

On this week's 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, President Obama praised the pioneering American astronauts and recalled his own childhood memories in Hawaii of NASA capsules splashing down in the Pacific.

But Houston, we have a problem. The president actually lived in Indonesia in 1969.

Obama met with Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin in the Oval Office  July 20 to commemorate the historic landing.

He praised the men for their "heroism, calm under pressure" and "grace."

"I think that all of us recall the moment in which mankind finally was untethered from this planet and was able to explore the stars; the moment in which we had one of our own step on the moon and leave that imprint that is there to this day," the president said.  MORE>>>>>>>>

About Time: Calif. budget plan includes new offshore oil

LOS ANGELES – The deal to close California's $26 billion budget deficit included a plan to drill for offshore oil, drawing allegations that the fiscal crisis was used for a backroom deal following rejection of the idea by state regulators earlier this year.

Democrats agreed to Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's request to expand drilling from an existing platform off Santa Barbara to generate a one-time $100 million advance royalty payment this fiscal year and an estimated $1.8 billion in royalties over 14 years.

It would be the first new offshore oil drilling on state lands in four decades since a blowout on a platform off Santa Barbara coated miles of ocean and shoreline and galvanized opposition. MORE>>>>>>

81-year-old qualifies for NASCAR West series race

Ncgriff PORTLAND, Ore. — 81-year-old Hershel McGriff has become the oldest driver to take part in a national NASCAR series race after qualifying for a Camping World West Series event at Portland International Raceway.

McGriff took part in Sunday's pre-race qualifying but made the race as one of 26 drivers competing for 28 spots in the field.

McGriff has not raced in a NASCAR series event since 2002.

In a career that has spanned six decades, he won four NASCAR Cup races, and 37 races on the West series. He is a member of the Motorsports Hall of Fame.

The Bi-Mart Salute to the Troops 125 at Portland's road course was scheduled later Sunday.

Hershel McGriff (born December 14, 1927) won four races during his brief career in the NASCAR Grand National (now Sprint Cup) series, and later in the NASCAR Winston West Series.

McGriff first raced on September 16, 1945, right after racing resumed in the United States after World War II. He was the winner of the first Carrera Panamericana in 1950, where he met NASCAR founder Bill France, Sr.[2] France convinced McGriff to come south and race in NASCAR races at Daytona Beach, the first Southern 500 race at Darlington Raceway, Detroit, and Raleigh.

France convinced McGriff to race full-time in NASCAR in 1954. He had his four wins that year in the Grand National series. He had 17 Top 10 finishes in 24 events, and finished sixth in the final points standings.McGriff's average finishing position was higher than points champion Lee Petty.

McGriff had two options to choose from for the 1955 season. He was offered a ride in NASCAR to race for millionarie Carl Kiekhaefer's newly formed team. McGriff decided to return home to the West Coast to be closer to his family, and to tend to his growing timber and mill business. Tim Flock drove Kiekhaefer's Chrysler 300 to 18 victories that season and the season championship.

McGriff returned to racing after not racing for around 10 years. He started 41st at Riverside in 1967, and had moved up to second place by the sixth lap. He beat Ron Grable in a photo finish that day.

He became the oldest driver to win a NASCAR feature race when he won an AutoZone West Series race in 1989 at the age of 61. His 14 wins at the defunct Riverside International Raceway is the most at NASCAR-sanctioned events, and he was chosen as the grand marshal for the final race at the track in 1988.

In November 1996, McGriff made the trip with several NASCAR champions, current Winston Cup, Busch Grand National and Craftsman Truck Series drivers to Japan's Suzuka Raceway for an exhibition race. He started 26th and finished 25th in what was called the NASCAR Suzuka Thunder Special.

On July 19 2009, an 81 year old Hershel raced on the Portland International Raceway. The last time he raced on the course, he was the winner. Oddly, this was also the last time that the Camping World West Series, then known as the Winston West Series visisted the course.

 Career awards

McGriff was inducted in the West Coast Stock Car Hall of Fame in its first class in 2002. He was inducted into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America in 2006. McGriff, who retired from driving at age 74 said, "This is fantastic, getting in the Hall of Fame, but, hey, I might not be through yet. When I turn 80 [in two years], I just might go out to a short track and show the young guys that I can still do it."

What?? Now Wikipedia says Obama born in Kenya

The American people who truly love this country owe a debt of gratitude to WND for staying on this story!

Wikipedia just can't seem to make up its mind about where President Barack Obama was born.

The free, online encyclopedia this afternoon displayed at least two countries the commander in chief may have been born in – the United States and Kenya.

WND documented how the entry for the "Early life and career of Barack Obama" changed numerous times.

At 4:45 p.m. Eastern, Wikipedia said:

"Barack Obama, the current President of the United States, was born on August 4, 1961 in either Honolulu, in the state of Hawaii[1], or Mombasa, Kenya, to Barack Obama, Sr. (1936–1982) (born in Nyang’oma Kogelo, Siaya District, Nyanza Province,[2] Kenya Colony, British Empire), and Ann Dunham (1942–1995) (born in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas).[3][4] On his mother's side he has a half-sister; on his father's side, Obama has two half-sisters and five surviving half-brothers.[5]"  MORE>>>>>>

Obama's 'birth hospital' in astonishing cover-up--UPDATED

Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children in Honolulu, Hawaii

The Honolulu hospital which for nearly six months proudly declared President Obama was born at its facility and used that claim as a major fund-raising tool is now engaged in an active cover-up, hiding a White House letter announcing his alleged birth there and refusing to confirm such a letter even exists.

The Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children is electronically cloaking what it had touted as a Jan. 24 letter from the president, in which the commander in chief, just four days after his inauguration, supposedly wrote, "As a beneficiary of the excellence of Kapi'olani Medical Center – the place of my birth – I am pleased to add my voice to your chorus of supporters."

WND was first to question the authenticity of the letter by revealing the image displayed on the hospital's website was not the image of an actual paper letter, but merely a computer-created likeness of a letter using HTML code, the building blocks of websites.MORE>>>>>>>>>>

Experts: Did ACORN Elect Al Franken?

Democrat Al Franken's emergence as the victor of the marathon Minnesota election battle triggered growing complaints from those who blame former Sen. Norm Coleman's defeat on the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN).

Matthew Vadum, senior editor for the Capital Research Center think tank, stops just short of saying ACORN grabbed the election away from Coleman, although he doesn't rule out that possibility.

He points out that ACORN registers voters who are expected to vote Democratic in overwhelming numbers, based on demographics. In the year leading up to the election, ACORN tallied 43,000 new registrations in Minnesota. That probably was a decisive factor in a contest decided by 312 votes out of nearly 3 million ballots cast.  MORE>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Billions in aid go to areas that backed Obama in '08

WASHINGTON — Billions of dollars in federal aid delivered directly to the local level to help revive the economy have gone overwhelmingly to places that supported President Obama in last year's presidential election.

That aid — about $17 billion — is the first piece of the administration's massive stimulus package that can be tracked locally. Much of it has followed a well-worn path to places that regularly collect a bigger share of federal grants and contracts, guided by formulas that have been in place for decades and leave little room for manipulation.

"There's no politics at work when it comes to spending for the recovery," White House spokesman Robert Gibbs says.

Counties that supported Obama last year have reaped twice as much money per person from the administration's $787 billion economic stimulus package as those that voted for his Republican rival, Sen. John McCain, a USA TODAY analysis of government disclosure and accounting records shows. That money includes aid to repair military bases, improve public housing and help students pay for college.

The reports show the 872 counties that supported Obama received about $69 per person, on average. The 2,234 that supported McCain received about $34.

Investigators who track the stimulus are skeptical that political considerations could be at work. The imbalance is so pronounced — and the aid so far from complete — that it would be almost inconceivable for it to be the result of political tinkering, says Adam Hughes, the director of federal fiscal policy for the non-profit OMB Watch. "Even if they wanted to, I don't think the administration has enough people in place yet to actually do that," he says.

"Most of what they're doing at this point is just stamping the checks and sending them out," Hughes says.

The stimulus package Obama signed in February includes about $499 billion in new spending, and to date, the Obama administration has allocated about $158 billion to specific projects and programs. Most of that money has gone directly to state governments, which then disperse the money to prevent school layoffs, repair roads and fund social services. That contrasts with the $17 billion that Washington distributes directly to local communities.

Including the larger chunk of money given to state governments, the aid favors states that voted for Obama, which have received about 20% more per person

Not all of the money favors places that supported Obama. About a third of the $17 billion, or $5.5 billion, in contracts that the federal government has signed for projects ranging from repaving runways to cleaning up nuclear waste has gone overwhelmingly to counties that supported McCain.

Jake Wiens, an investigator with the non-profit Project on Government Oversight, says it's too soon to draw meaningful conclusions about whether the type of aid in the stimulus favors Obama's constituents.

But, he says, "it will be important to pay close attention as the data come in to ensure that political favoritism plays no role."

The imbalance didn't start with the stimulus. From 2005 through 2007, the counties that later voted for Obama collected about 50% more government aid than those that supported McCain, according to spending reports from the U.S. Census Bureau. USA TODAY's review did not include Alaska, which does not report its election results by county. SOURCE.....

If you happened to read online news sites such as United Press International or the popular hoax-busting anytime up until Tuesday night, you would have seen definitive statements that President Obama was born at the Queen's Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

But checking back now, both sites are suddenly providing an entirely different location, the Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children, also in the capital of the Aloha State.

Within hours of a WND report revealing Obama's birth being reported at two different Hawaiian hospitals, both sites changed their information to suddenly fall in line with the president's claim that he was born at Kapi'olani.

With some 2,000 rallies taking place in all 50 states, cities such as West Palm Beach, Fla., were typical of the angst vented against recent government action.

Approximately 1,000 people turned out in this affluent region for an evening featuring brief speeches and hundreds of homemade signs.

Among those carrying a placard was Barbara Allen of Juno Beach, Fla.

Get ready for Sept. 12! Visit the one and only "tea party store" now.

"We have the wrong people in Congress right now," Allen told WND. "There's 535 of them and there's a lot of bad guys in there on a bad mission and we need to counterattack and get 'em out. The bad mission is we're gonna be in a state of socialism here if we don't stop this nonsense of spending [and] spending."

Ancient Find Proves Christ's Words?

Ancient Find Proves Christ's Words?

Archaeologists have unearthed in Jordan what they believe to be the first Christian church in the world. Dating back almost 2,000 years to sometime between 33 AD to 70 AD, the church, which is actually a cave, was found underneath Saint Georgeous Church, which itself dates back to 230 AD, in Rihab in northern Jordan near the Syrian border.

Agence France Presse and The Jordan Times report that the church is thought to have sheltered the world's earliest Christians from persecution and certain death. "We have evidence to believe this church sheltered the early Christians--the 70 disciples of Jesus Christ," Abdul Qader al-Husan, the head of Jordan's Rihab Centre for Archaeological Studies, told AFP.

According to Wikipedia, the 70 disciples were early followers of Jesus. The Gospel of Luke 10:1-24 says that Jesus appointed them and sent them out in pairs to spread his message.

Those 70 early Christians that created this church are described in a mosaic as "the 70 beloved by God and Divine," says Husan. They fled persecution in Jerusalem and founded churches in northern Jordan.

Rihab is now home to a total of 30 churches, and Jesus and the Virgin Mary are believed to have passed through the area, Husan told AFP.

Citing historical sources, Husan explained that these early Christians lived and practiced their religious rituals in the underground church and only left it once Christianity was accepted by Roman rulers. The bishop deputy of the Greek Orthodox archdiocese, Archimandrite Nektarious, described the discovery as an "important milestone for Christians all around the world."

What did they find inside the world's first church?

In addition to several stone seats that were probably used by clergy and a circular-shaped area that served as an apse, they found pottery that dates back to between the 3rd and 7th centuries, indicating the church was used until late Roman rule. There is also a deep tunnel that is thought to have led to a source of water.

The Speech of the Unknown

From the Editor of Reverse Spins: The following is taken from Washington and His Generals: or, Legends of the Revolution by George Lippard, published in 1847. The signers of the Declaration of Independence sat in Independence Hall at Philadelphia, contemplating losing their heads or being hanged. Their courage wavered. The document sat there unsigned. An extraordinary catalyst was needed to move them to action. An unknown man rose and gave an electrifying speech. He disappeared soon after.

By signing the Declaration, all were guilty of high treason under British law. The penalty for high treason was to be hanged by the neck until unconscious, then cut down and revived, then disemboweled and cut into quarters. The head and quarters were at the disposal of the crown.

No wonder they wavered! No wonder they discussed back and forth for days on end before signing the document that carried so grave a penalty. An old legend dramatizes the story of the one who galvanized the delegates and gave them the courage to sign that document.

But still there is doubt–and that pale-faced man, shrinking in one corner, squeaks out something about axes, scaffolds, and a–gibbet!

"Gibbet!" echoes a fierce, bold voice, that startles men from their seats–and look yonder! A tall slender man rises, dressed–although it is summer time–in a dark robe. Look how his white hand undulates as it is stretched slowly out, how that dark eye burns, while his words ring through the hall. (We do not know his name, let us therefore call his appeal)

"Gibbet? They may stretch our necks on all the gibbets in the land–they may turn every rock into a scaffold–every tree into a gallows, every home into a grave, and yet the words on that Parchment can never die!

"They may pour our blood on a thousand scaffolds, and yet from every drop that dyes the axe, or drips on the sawdust of the block, a new martyr to Freedom will spring into birth!

"The British King may blot out the Stars of God from His sky, but he cannot blot out His words written on the Parchment there! The works of God may perish–His Word, never!

"These words will go forth to the world when our bones are dust. To the slave in the mines they will speak–hope–to the mechanic in his workshop–freedom–to the coward-kings these words will speak, but not in tones of flattery. No, no! They will speak like the flaming syllables on Belshazzar's wall–

"Yes, that Parchment will speak to the Kings in a language sad and terrible as the trump of the Archangel. You have trampled on mankind long enough. At last the voice of human woe has pierced the ear of God, and called His Judgment down! You have waded on to thrones over seas of blood–you have trampled on to power over the necks of millions–you have turned the poor man's sweat and blood into robes for your delicate forms, into crowns for your anointed brows. Now Kings–now purpled Hangmen of the world–for you come the days of axes and gibbets and scaffolds–for you the wrath of man–for you the lightnings of God!–

"Look! How the light of your palaces on fire flashes up into the midnight sky!

"Now Purpled Hangmen of the world–turn and beg for mercy!

"Where will you find it?

"Not from God, for you have blasphemed His laws!

"Not from the People, for you stand baptized in their blood!

"Here you turn, and lo! a gibbet!

"There–and a scaffold looks you in the face.

"All around you–death–and nowhere pity!

"Now executioners of the human race, kneel down, yes, kneel down upon the sawdust of the scaffold–lay your perfumed heads upon the block–bless the axe as it falls–the axe that you sharpened for the poor man's neck!

"Such is the message of that Declaration to Man, to the Kings of the world! And shall we falter now? And shall we start back appalled when our feet press the very threshold of Freedom? Do I see quailing faces around me, when our wives have been butchered–when the hearthstones of our land are red with the blood of little children?

"What are these shrinking hearts and faltering voices here, when the very Dead of our battlefields arise, and call upon us to sign that Parchment, or be accursed forever?

"Sign! if the next moment the gibbet's rope is round your neck! Sign! if the next moment this hall rings with the echo of the falling axe! Sign! By all your hopes in life or death, as husbands–as fathers–as men–sign your names to the Parchment or be accursed forever!

"Sign–and not only for yourselves, but for all ages. For that Parchment will be the Text-book of Freedom–the Bible of the Rights of Man forever!

"Sign–for that declaration will go forth to American hearts forever, and speak to those hearts like the voice of God! And its work will not be done, until throughout this wide Continent not a single inch of ground owns the sway of a British King!

"Nay, do not start and whisper with surprise! It is a truth, your own hearts witness it, God proclaims it.–This Continent is the property of a free people, and their property alone. [17-second applause] God, I say, proclaims it!

"Look at this strange history of a band of exiles and outcasts, suddenly transformed into a people–look at this wonderful Exodus of the oppressed of the Old World into the New, where they came, weak in arms but mighty in Godlike faith–nay, look at this history of your Bunker Hill–your Lexington–where a band of plain farmers mocked and trampled down the panoply of British arms, and then tell me, if you can, that God has not given America to the free?

[12-second applause]

"It is not given to our poor human intellect to climb the skies, to pierce the councils of the Almighty One. But methinks I stand among the awful clouds which veil the brightness of Jehovah's throne. Methinks I see the Recording Angel–pale as an angel is pale, weeping as an angel can weep–come trembling up to that Throne, and speak his dread message–

"`Father! the old world is baptized in blood! Father, it is drenched with the blood of millions, butchered in war, in persecution, in slow and grinding oppression! Father–look, with one glance of Thine Eternal eye, look over Europe, Asia, Africa, and behold evermore, that terrible sight, man trodden down beneath the oppressor's feet–nations lost in blood–Murder and Superstition walking hand in hand over the graves of their victims, and not a single voice to whisper, "Hope to Man!"'

"He stands there, the Angel, his hands trembling with the black record of human guilt. But hark! The voice of Jehovah speaks out from the awful cloud–`Let there be light again. Let there be a New World. Tell my people–the poor–the trodden down millions, to go out from the Old World. Tell them to go out from wrong, oppression and blood–tell them to go out from this Old World–to build my altar in the New!'

[11-second applause]

"As God lives, my friends, I believe that to be his voice! Yes, were my soul trembling on the wing for Eternity, were this hand freezing in death, were this voice choking with the last struggle, I would still, with the last impulse of that soul, with the last wave of that hand, with the last gasp of that voice, implore you to remember this truth–God has given America to the free!

[13-second applause]

"Yes, as I sank down into the gloomy shadows of the grave, with my last gasp, I would beg you to sign that Parchment, in the name of the God, who made the Saviour who redeemed you–in the name of the millions whose very breath is now hushed in intense expectation, as they look up to you for the awful words–`You are free!'"

[9-second applause]

O many years have gone since that hour–the Speaker, his brethren, all, have crumbled into dust, but it would require an angel's pen to picture the magic of that Speaker's look, the deep, terrible emphasis of his voice, the prophet-like beckoning of his hand, the magnetic flame which shooting from his eyes, soon fired every heart throughout the hall!

The work was done. A wild murmur thrills through the hall.–Sign? Hah? There is no doubt now. Look! How they rush forward–stout-hearted John Hancock has scarcely time to sign his bold name, before the pen is grasped by another–another and another! Look how the names blaze on the Parchment–Adams and Lee and Jefferson and Carroll, and now, Roger Sherman the Shoemaker.

And here comes good old Stephen Hopkins–yes, trembling with palsy, he totters forward–quivering from head to foot, with his shaking hands he seizes the pen, he scratches his patriot-name.

Then comes Benjamin Franklin the Printer....

And now the Parchment is signed; and now let word go forth to the People in the streets–to the homes of America–to the camp of Mister Washington, and the Palace of George the Idiot-King–let word go out to all the earth–

And, old man in the steeple, now bare your arm, and grasp the Iron Tongue, and let the bell speak out the great truth:

[13-second applause]

Hark! Hark to the toll of that Bell!

Is there not a deep poetry in that sound, a poetry more sublime than Shakespeare or Milton?

Is there not a music in the sound, that reminds you of those awful tones which broke from angel-lips, when news of the child Jesus burst on the shepherds of Bethlehem?

For that Bell now speaks out to the world, that–

[10-second applause]

Are we not bought with a price?

The following is a brief explanatory statement concerning the origin of our British-Israel view of Bible exposition for the information of those unfamiliar with the views of our organization.

Before listing our statement of purpose, I think it necessary to explain something of our organization's background.

Throughout the history of Britain and that of related peoples, there has existed a long tradition, re-inforced and evidenced by certain archaeological findings, historic artifacts, periodic literary allusions, letters, heraldry and state documents, to the effect that great numbers of those peoples who moved across Europe in tribal segments from the foot of the Caucasus Mountains and from Asia-Minor to settle in pockets sprinkled across the European Continent and beyond, but particularly focusing upon the north-western parts of Europe, were in fact emerging from the broken grip of the Assyrian Empire of ancient times, (See II Esdras 13:39-45).

Those peoples, in part stimulated by the driving force of this perceived identity, have in later centuries become, in the main, Protestant. The bulk of these peoples were, we believe, the descendants of the captive ancient tribes of the Northern House of Israel, known by the Assyrians as the House of Omri (Bit-Khumri), Gamera, Gimera, Cimmerians, Scythians, etc. The Venerable Bede (673-735), in his "Ecclesiastical History of the English Nation", Book I, Chapter I, says "...the Picts, from Scythia, as is reported, putting to sea..."

Arbroath Declaration The Aberbrothock Declaration, 6th April, 1320, sent to Pope John XXII to justify Scottish claims to national independence, signed and sealed by Robert the Bruce and about twenty Scottish Nobles in Parliament, in its preamble, gives a date reference to the "nation of the Scots... passing from the greater Scythia... coming thence [ MEANING "TO SCOTLAND", WHICH THEY MASSIVELY INVADED IN c.500 A.D. -Ed.] one thousand two hundred years after the outgoing of the people of Israel" [ THE CAPTIVE ISRAELITES ESCAPED FROM THE CRUMBLING ASSYRIAN EMPIRE c.700 B.C. -Ed.] - a very inappropriate reference, were they not convinced of their Israelitish origins. Genealogical Chart prepared for Elizabeth I, displayed at Hatfield House, in England.Genealogical Chart of Elizabeth I In the days of Elizabeth I , this view was the generally prevailing driving force which propelled the leading Elizabethans to their astonishing pre-eminence.
Drake's Letter to John Foxe (Author, "Foxe's Book of Martyrs") 31.4KDRAKE'S LETTER [Sir Francis Drake's famous letter, to John Foxe, the martyrologist , using the name "Israel" for Britain, for example, is preserved in the Harleian manuscripts (MS 167f. 104). For a partial text, see O.B.C. Recorder, Vol. 87 No. 2, June, 1981.]

Alexander Cruden, the author of the widely used "Cruden's Concordance", evidently knew of the Israelitish background of the British people. His "Cruden's Concordance" first appeared in October, 1737, and was dedicated to Queen Caroline, who died that November. In the Second Edition, printed June 11, 1761, Cruden dedicated this edition to King George III. In the middle of the small print of the one page dedication, following a paragraph which extols the good King Hezekiah of Judah, appears this sentence: "May the great God be the guide of your life, and direct and prosper you, that it may be said by the present and future ages, that KING GEORGE THE THIRD hath been an HEZEKIAH to our British Israel."

During the reign of Queen Victoria , the view thus outlined garnered increasing popular support and interest among certain of the aristocracy, Senior Military, the Church and the Royal Family. (See Queen Victoria Prayerbook, special prayers for "THE TWENTIETH OF JUNE." The words ending one of the special prayers for Queen Victoria on that day are these: "...And that these blessings may be continued to after-ages, let there never be one wanting in her house to succeed her in the government of this United Kingdom, that our posterity may see her children's children, and peace upon Israel. So we that are thy people, and sheep of thy pasture, shall give thee thanks for ever, and will always be shewing forth thy praise from generation to generation. Amen..")

In July 1920, there emerged with the holding of its First Congress in Britain , an organizational framework called The British-Israel-World Federation, composed of those independent groups of Bible students who, coming from the various orthodox, evangelical and generally Protestant streams of Christianity, wished to promote and sustain this approach to explain and interpret Biblical themes, because it was supportive of the contention that God has honoured His Word in prophecy, concerning the nations of Israel.

Affiliated organizations were soon formed throughout the British Empire and the United States of America. No other identification of the main body of the tribes of Israel seems possible when all the promises are evaluated against the subsequent historic unfolding of events. The use of the British-Israel Logo in all its variants is
reserved for identification of Federation affiliated bodies.

As the British-Israel-World Federation emerged from this background, it did not in any way try to change orthodox church doctrines regarding the nature and person of Jesus Christ the Second Person of the Trinity, the Word made Flesh, crucified, risen and ascended, now seated at the right hand of God, the coming King, Lord, Redeemer of Israel and Saviour of all those of mankind who are willing to accept His death as substitutionary for their deserved end, and, for love of Him, have his law written in their hearts and lives. Unlike some modern sects, we in no way diverge from the main-line orthodox position of the Protestant Churches on these matters. Thus, we do not hold our organization to be a "sect" (which means a "section" - with a division of doctrine separating from orthodoxy), or a "cult". We do not seek to "recruit" members at the expense of such churches. Our 'raison d'etre' as a Federation is to sustain the recognition of the identity of modern day Israel as the fulfilment of Biblical prophecies, not to teach a new view of Jesus Christ.

While our teaching is based entirely on the Bible and stands without the need of any other source but God's Word, certain observations are consistent with our contentions, and are frequently adduced as points of confirmation. It appears that even particular distinctions of tribe may be discerned among the Israel peoples mentioned.

  1. Those of Bond Netherland Israel would support the contention that Holland's population (and the Afrikaner of South Africa), for example, display characteristics similar to, and could well be mainly of, the Tribe of Zebulun.
  2. Some ancient Irish stock, (Tuatha De Danaan), the ancient Greeks (whom Romans called "Danoi"), and the present day Danish people, are often claimed to be of Dan. [The Lacedemonian (Spartan) king claimed their descent from Abraham - see I Maccabees 12 or Josephus Book XII, Chapter IV and Book XIII, chapter V:8.]
  3. The Jutes of Kent and North Germany may well be of Judah (those 200,150 taken by Assyria as per Sennacherib Prism in the British Museum).
  4. The House of Israel generally, under the Birthright tribe of Ephraim, the tribal emblem of which was the wild ox or bull, as worshippers of the golden calf (Heb. "egel" or "engel") were those, we believe, whose descendants came to Britain as "Angles". Some horned helmeted related tribesmen appear among the British chieftains, the Vikings, etc..
  5. "In Isaac shall thy seed be called" (Gen. 21:12) is often considered the basis of the name "Saxon".
  6. Some Mennonites, similarly, recognize their descent from Israel.
  7. More generally, the Hebrew word for captivity or exile, galah or golah is assumed to be the origin of the names "Gaul" (as in the case of the Celtic North Galatians to whom the Epistle to the Galatians was addressed), and even possibly, "Gael", despite linguistic alternatives.
  8. Often disputed, but nevertheless upheld, Brith (Hebrew "Covenant") and ish (Hebrew "man") are seen to find modern expression in "British", descended from the man to whom the covenant was given, Jacob, (Israel) - Genesis 28:11-22. Consistent with this is the fact that the Coronation Stone, until very recently in Westminster Abbey, is stated to be Jacob's Pillow Stone, entrusted to the care of Joseph's descendants (Genesis 49:24).
  9. The Tribal descendants of Reuben are sometimes tentatively identified with the French Huguenots and (Breton) French Canadians.
  10. Many Swiss, and many scattered pockets found in Poland, Germany, Austria, North Italy (Lombards), Northern Spain and Portugal and most of the Baltic and Scandinavian peoples, among others, are also assumed to be Israelites - not just the British and Americans as is so often mis-represented by opponents.

If one is anxious to do a bit of HIGHLY SPECULATIVE anthropological hypothesizing, the faint possibility should also not be overlooked that certain Asian peoples ARE IN SOME MEASURE of racially related stock. [Do Brahmins, for example, stem from Abraham and Keturah: Genesis 25:1-6? What of the Sikhs, of whom some trace to the "Jat", or "Juta" Tribe. They possibly come in part of Scythian immigrants. (Enc. Brit. 11th Ed.) After all, Keturah's sons WERE sent eastward by Abraham and they must have gone to reside somewhere in Asia! Are some Afghans also able to claim a genealogical trace from the Greek Army of Alexander The Great?]

A letter from the Chief Rabbi's office, London, November 18, 1918 , to Capt. Merton Smith, Canadian Forestry Corps, shows that the Jewish people do not claim to comprise all the tribes of Israel, nor even the total of the descendants of the House of Judah.

Note From Bob Barney: The Plain Truth: Although we do not totally agree with every aspect of what these historians believe, I feel it is important to give our readers the total view of our contention that WE ARE LOST ISRAEL!  This is not my idea, or the Armstrong's; this view is centuries old and has been "hidden" from us! Why? That is what you must ask yourself! The silence of this subject must end, and we must understand who we are in the Bible! FOR MORE ON MY RESEARCH on this subject, CLICK HERE.....

Palin Steps down as Governor

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin announced Friday that she was resigning her office later this month, a stunning decision that could free her to run for president more easily but also raises questions about her political standing at home.

Palin disclosed the surprise news Friday afternoon from her home in Wasilla with her husband, Todd, and Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell, who the governor said would take over the state on Saturday, July 25.

With the decision, Palin liberates herself from the political constraints that come with running for president while still in elected office.

A Beast is Rising in Europe.....

Beast1 In elections mirrored across large parts of Europe, Britain's Labor Party was dealt a crushing blow in elections for the European parliament and local government offices--and so-called “right-wing parties”, including the British National Party (BNP), made unprecedented gains. Growing discontent with Prime Minister Gordon Brown's liberal government coming to a head with a series of scandals, the world's economic collapse and maybe even fear of the Obama led America, all certainly played a role in the outcome.

But the actual result was devastating for the liberals. Labor fell to third place in the national vote, behind not only the mainstream Conservative Party (known as the Tories), but the previously fringe UK Independence Party, which plays to a growing national sentiment in opposing British membership in the European Union.

Also noticeable was the success of the BNP, an organization committed to an openly stated program of "reversing the tide of non-white immigration." The BNP won almost 1 million votes across Britain, and gained two seats in the European parliament, a first. Several other parties to the right of the Tories scored victories, as well. One can only wonder if this is a foreshadow of 2010.

Parties left of Labor, aside from a strong turnout for the Greens, the results were tiny. Again, Europe may be heading towards conservatism, while America goes communist.

There were a few exceptions. In some countries, left-wing candidates scored important successes. Portugal's Left Bloc, for example, more than doubled its share of the national vote to just over 10 percent, gaining three seats in the European parliament. In Ireland, the far-left Socialist Party scored a breakthrough victory in the European parliamentary vote, and the radical coalition People Before Profits did well. But for each of the success stories, left parties in other countries suffered disappointing results.

Empires For the liberal parties like Britain's Labor--many of which are either leading governments, or have a record of leading them in the recent past--the election was a disaster. France's Socialist Party got 16.5 percent of the national vote, close to its worst-ever showing. In Germany, the Social Democratic Party fell to a historic low of 21 percent.

These parties come from the tradition of social democracy that was associated with the creation of the European welfare state--a far more generous one than in the U.S.--after the Second World War. But in the past two decades, the social democrats have embraced neoliberal measures that expanded the gap between rich and poor--and none have been bigger boosters of the free market than Labor's Brown, and his predecessor Tony Blair.

Despite the grip of the economic crisis, the main center-right parties did much better in these elections, even where they are in office and presiding over attacks on workers. In France, for example, President Nicolas Sarkozy's Union for a Popular Majority took first place in the national vote, marking the first time a sitting French president's party has won a European election since 1979. Germany's governing Christian Democratic Union also stayed on top.

But the biggest news was the success of the so-called “far right,” which won breakthroughs in one country after another. All told, neo-Nazi's will hold more than 40 seats in the new European parliament. One of The Plain Truth's main messages is to WATCH EUROPE, especially Germany.  It is our view that the Germans are direct descendants from the Assyrians, who was forced from modern day Iraq by the Persians thousands of years ago.

In Hungary, the viciously anti-immigrant Movement for a Better Hungary--which has a paramilitary unit whose uniforms resemble those of Nazi youth organizations during the Second World War--won some 15 percent of the vote, giving it three seats in the parliament. The Greater Romania Party, which spews its vilest rhetoric against the Roma minority, won two parliamentary seats.

BY COMPARISON, the right's gains in Britain were actually less sweeping--but still extremely alarming.

In moving into second place in the national vote, the UKIP gained further legitimacy for positions it maintains are non-racist. The party's chief selling point is opposition to British membership in the European Union, and it blames "uncontrolled immigration from the former Warsaw Pact nations of Eastern Europe" for the crisis in Britain's public services. Does this sound familiar?

The English Democrats Party (EDP), which opposes institutions that have given power to Scotland and Wales within the United Kingdom, had a more modest showing nationwide, but it was able to elect a member.

Usagermany The stunning success of the BNP, which increased its share of the national vote to 6.5 percent, and polled at almost 10 percent in former industrial areas of northern England and the Midlands, where middle-class and working-class communities have been hard hit by deindustrialization and the economic crisis. As well as winning its first three county council seats, the party elected two members to European parliament, including Nick Griffin, the party's leader and national spokesperson. The second new member of parliament, from the Yorkshire and Humber region, is Andrew Brons, a former chair of the Hitler-worshipping National Front. The victories give the BNP a new aura of legitimacy--and an important source of funding for future activities.

The party has its origins in the British neo-Nazi movement. Though it has tried to create a veneer of respectability by moving away from its formerly extreme anti-Semitism, in reality, it has merely replaced Jewish people with Muslims as its main target for hate. The BNP's membership is limited to so-called "indigenous Britons" (i.e., whites), and its political program calls for the expulsion from Britain of all "non-white immigrants."

The blame for these losses lies squarely with the liberal leaders: Gordon Brown and Tony Blair.

During its 12 years in power, the Labor government prepared the social and political conditions for the BNP to break through--by implementing a neoliberal economic agenda of cuts and privatization that enriched the fat cats of the London financial world, while alienating millions of once-loyal working-class voters.  When the economic crisis hit in earnest last year, Brown opted for more of the same, doling out billions of pounds to bail out the banks while hundreds of thousands of workers lost their jobs. Simultaneously, New Labour posed as "tough on immigration" and helped to whip up Islamophobia in order to justify its role in the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan.  Does this sound much like America under both George Bush and Barack Obama? It certainly does!

In the recent corruption scandal--sparked off when British newspapers revealed how members of parliament abused the expense account system to enjoy substantial perks at taxpayers' expense--was the last straw for many. Leading Tories were implicated as well, but the presence of Labor cabinet members among the crooks lining their pockets while ordinary people struggled to pay the bills clearly drove more people away from Labor. It's hard to think of a more fitting symbol of how little now separates the party that supposedly stands for workers from the hated Tories.

Brown's government is now in a catastrophic crisis. Although the prime minister announced a "reshuffle" of his Cabinet to distract attention, factionalism is breaking out among party leaders. Right-wing Work and Pensions Secretary James Purnell resigned and made a public call for Brown to step down. Purnell and other Blairites in the upper echelons of New Labor want the party to shift even further to the right. But other party leaders are unconvinced that New Labor could afford a leadership contest, so Brown may hold onto power in the short term.

Whatever cosmetic changes take place at the top, though, the Labor Party is heading for a historic defeat in the next election--the mirror opposite of the landslide that swept Labour into office in 1997. One can only wonder if this same scenario is coming to America as well.

The main beneficiary will be the Tories. David Cameron, the current Conservative Party leader, has tried to broaden the Tories' appeal by adding an environmentalist veneer to the party's free-market orthodoxies. But a Tory government would inevitably mean increased attacks on public services and deep cuts to the welfare state.

In the European elections, the Green Party managed to re-elect its two members of parliament and came close to stopping the BNP's Nick Griffin in the North West region. But much of the socialist movement was divided going into election. Some united with the left-led National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers to form the No 2 EU, Yes to Democracy (NO2EU) slate in the European elections. But the effort was pulled together at the last moment and drew less than 1 percent of the vote. The Respect Party, which won a major success several years ago by electing George Galloway to British parliament, suffered a devastating split last year, and the remaining organization ran only a handful of local candidates in the election, giving public support to the Green Party and NO2EU.  The emergence of NO2EU does suggest possibilities for the future--that some of the more militant unions could lead a break with the Labor party and provide a new left-wing pole of attraction for working-class voters and activists.Holy roman emper

But a key question now will be challenging the liberal socialist trying to blunt the momentum of the “right” coming out of the vote. The Plain Truth maintains to watch Europe! Europe will unite again into the revived seventh resurrection of The Holy Roman Empire, giving rise to Daniel's “King of the North,” which will do battle and be defeated by none other than Jesus Christ.
