Virginia Vehicle Pileup: 3 Killed In 75-Vehicle Crash Near Virginia-North Carolina Border

image from media.wcnc.comGALAX, Va. — Nearly 100 vehicles crashed Sunday along a mountainous, foggy stretch of interstate near the Virginia-North Carolina border, killing three people and injuring 25 others.

Police said traffic along Interstate 77 in southwest Virginia backed up for about 8 miles in the southbound lanes after the accidents. Authorities closed the northbound lanes so that fire trucks, ambulances and police could get to the series of chain-reaction wrecks.

Virginia State Police determined there were 17 separate crashes involving 95 vehicles within a mile span near the base of Fancy Gap Mountain, spokeswoman Corinne Geller said. The crashes began around 1:15 p.m. Sunday when there was heavy fog in the area.

"This mountain is notorious for fog banks. They have advance signs warning people. But the problem is, people are seeing well and suddenly they're in a fog bank," said Glen Sage of the American Red Cross office in the town of Galax.

Since 1997, there have been at least six such pileups on the mountain but Sunday's crash was the most deadly, according to The Roanoke Times. Two people died in crashes involving dozens of vehicles in both 2000 and 2010.

Overhead message boards warned drivers since about 6 a.m. Sunday to slow down because of the severe fog, Geller said. The crashes were mostly caused by drivers going too fast for conditions.

Rush: Churches could be forced to marry 'gays'

by Joe Kovacs Email | Archive

If the U.S. Supreme Court legalizes same-sex marriages across America, then churches could be forced to perform homosexual weddings, even if they oppose the idea on religious grounds.

That’s according to radio host Rush Limbaugh, who thinks there’s a good chance of it happening.

“The Catholic Church can be forced to give away abortifacients and birth-control pills. Why can’t the Church be forced to marry gay couples who want the sacrament? Any church,” Limbaugh said on his top-rated program Wednesday afternoon.

“I think it’s a pretty safe bet that that kind of thing will happen. Among militant leftists, attacking organized religion is part of the political agenda, whether gay or not.”

International Bankster Enslavement Plan Revealed to Cyprus; Banks Remain Closed

This is the latest update in Cyprus bank raid series chronicled below

Activist Post

It was anticipated that the weekend could bring finalized plans for how Cyprus would be dealt with by the Troika and parliament. The central problem that had revealed itself in the wake of the original indefinite bank holiday and subsequent ATM drain and protests, was how to stop capital flight when banks reopen, as well as a more widespread bank run across the Eurozone as trust in the banking system verges on collapse. The two largest banks in Cyprus saw the imposition of ATM withdrawal limits, which declined from 260 Euros to 100 Euros ahead of projected bank openings tomorrow, Tuesday -- Sorry, make that Wednesday. An urgent statement was issued by the Central Bank that, "For the smooth functioning of the entire banking system, the Finance Minister has decided upon the recommendation of the Governor of the CBC, that all banks remain closed until Wednesday, 27 March 2013 included." The ongoing closure makes this the longest in history. See other closures here.

One key indicator for just how orchestrated this has been, and how dangerous the outcome, is that a final deal was supposedly reached at a dinner with Mario Draghi, Christine Lagarde, Herman Van Rompuy, and José Manuel Barroso -- essentially the Four Horsemen of economic apocalypse.

The new decision has been made to honor those who were insured up to 100,000 Euros (as if it is some sort of gift), but to steal around 30% of the money of depositors at the Bank of Cyprus, and all of the money for the uninsured of Cyprus Popular bank...

American Small Business SOLD OUT AGAIN - Senate Approves Internet Sales Tax by 3-to-1 Margin

Activist Post

The U.S. Senate voted yesterday to approve the concept of an Internet sales tax by an overwhelming 75-to-24 margin.

The vote was largely symbolic and non-binding, but its support has some wanting to bypass the committee process for the easy passage of the Marketplace Fairness Actaccording to The Verge.

The law, which opponents more accurately call the "National Internet Tax Mandate", would allow states to demand sales taxes from online retailers.

More exactly, "the Marketplace Fairness Act grants states the authority to compel online and catalog retailers ("remote sellers"), no matter where they are located, to collect sales tax at the time of a transaction," according to a lobbyist website supporting the idea.

When Does the day begin, according to the Bible?

Day

By Bob Barney

Christ warned us to be aware of false religion, customs and laws. These warnings have basically fell on deaf years but the most important "sign" that we can look for, as to the coming of Jesus again back to this world is the spread of false religion and religious practices that are contrary to God. Over the years, God's Law (THE TEN COMMANDMENTS) has been replaced by man's law. Our theologians call it "saved by grace" when truly nothing of the sort is biblically true.

Christmas, Easter, Sunday worship actually pre-date the earthly ministry of Jesus! Yes you read that correctly, these holidays have nothing to do with Christ and were being followed long before GOD became a man and walked among us. Even in the garden of Eden, the very first religious lie promulgated was the "immortal soul" doctrine. To this day, we believe the devil and that "we shall not die, but be like God" and live forever as some spirit in heaven or hell. That is Satan's lie and almost every false religion has adopted it.

In Jesus' time, the Jewish nation, after years of captivity, began to adopt Babylonian ways. They took on the Babylonian calendar and "lost" God's true perfect one, and at the same time began the truly pagan observance of "evening days."  This simply means that, like the Babylonians, they began to start their day at sunset rather than sunrise. Like everything else, the theologians of the day twisted a few scriptures which may imply evening days and ignored hundreds of scriptures that proved that God's day starts in the morning. Most Sabbath keeping churches to this day follow this pagan start of the day and continue the practice of those lawless religious leaders that killed Christ! The same ones he declared at his arrest were those who worshipped the DARKNESS, when evil reigns! Yes, the nighttime is darkness, and God IS NEVER in darkness. We read in Revelation that when Christ returns to Jerusalem, that where He is will always be in light! There will be no nighttime in the Holy City! Yes, it's in the same Bible that we all read. Revelation 21:23 "And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb [is] the light thereof."

In the very first chapter of the Bible we read "And God said, Let there be light: and there was light."

When did this happen, in the evening time? Is there light at night? Read on..."And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day. " So called the light DAY! So when GOD said "Let there be light" it became day! It was dawn!

Let's read on! "And the evening and the morning were the first day." Do you get that? After daytime of about twelve hours, evening time came, still part of day one, then  came the next day IN THE MORNING!.

Let's examine the first week:

Darkness over the earth........... This may have been millions of years. There was an earth BEFORE our present day earth that was ruled by Lucifer (under God) and then destroyed by God when Lucifer became Satan. Look at any good Bible commentary and you will see that in Gen 1;2 "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness [was] upon the face of the deep."  That the word "was" (formless and void) can be translated BECAME! This is important. There is a big difference between was and became! Why does the bible commentators put this in? The reason is that they understand the significance of Jeremiah 45:18. Notice Isaiah 45:18. "Thus saith the Eternal that created the heavens, God himself that formed the earth and made it, He hath established it, He created it not in vain." "In vain" is an incorrect translation. In your Bible, if you have the marginal references, you will find in the margin the proper translation "waste."The original Hebrew word there is TOHU. This Hebrew word is the identical word used in Gen. 1:2, meaning confusion, or emptiness. or waste - a result of disorder, a result of violation of law. In Isaiah 45:18 we have the plain statement that God created the earth not "toho," that is, not in confusion, not in disorder. But in Genesis 1:2, the earth was, or the earth BECAME - as it ought to he translated - chaotic and in confusion.

The next issue. How long did the rain fall during Noah's flood?
How long did Moses stay on Mt Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments?

How long was Jonah in the belly of the fish, or Jesus in the tomb?

Answers:
40 days and nights
40 days and nights
3 days and 3 nights, and 3 days and 3 nights.

Question for you Sabbath Keeping Churches...

So the question is why wasn't these time above rendered as 40 nights and days or 3 nights and days? Jesus was truly in the ground for 3 nights and days, but he used the term DAY and NIGHT! Think about that....

In Leviticus 22:29-30: "When you sacrifice a sacrifice of thanksgiving to the Lord ... it shall be eaten on the same day, you shall leave none of it until morning." The insistence of the eating of the sacrifice "on the same day" before the arrival of the "morning," implies that the next morning marked the beginning of the next day. This suggests that the day began in the morning, because, as Roland de Vaux points out, "had the day begun in the evening the wording would have ordered the meat to be eaten before the evening."

The Law says:"But if the sacrifice of his offering is a votive offering or a freewill offering it shall be eaten on the day he offers sacrifice, and on the morrow what remains of it shall be eaten" (Lev 7:16). In this case the flesh of the sacrifice could be eaten both on the day of the sacrifice and "on the morrow." By virtue of the parallelism with the preceding law, the "morrow" must begin in the morning.

Quote below From: THE RECKONING OF THE DAY IN BIBLE TIMES

Samuele Bacchiocchi, Ph. D., Andrews University

"A second type of evidence supporting the sunrise reckoning seems implied also in the Passover legislation of Exodus 12. The law prescribes that the Paschal lamb must be slaughtered on the "fourteenth day of this month ... in the evening" (v. 6) and must be eaten "that night" (v. 8) with "unleavened bread and bitter herbs" (v. 8), leaving none of it "until the morning" (v. 10). Later in the same chapter the night during which the Passover lamb was eaten with unleavened bread is explicitly designated as "the fourteenth day of the month" (v. 18).

"What this means is that in Exodus 12 both the slaying of the Passover lamb, which took place "between the two evenings" (Ex 12:6— that is to say, as Josephus explains, between three and five o'clock in the afternoon),18 and the eating of the lamb with unleavened bread, which took place on the following night, are placed on the same fourteenth day of the month.

"This time reference cannot be harmonized with the sunset reckoning, according to which the night following the sacrifice of the Passover was not the 14th but the 15th day of Nisan. In fact, in several passages which reflect the sunset reckoning, the beginning of the feast of unleavened bread is explicitly placed "on the fifteenth day" (Lev 23:5; Num 28:16).

"According to the sunrise reckoning, however, both the slaying of the lamb and the eating of it with unleavened bread would take place on the 14th day, because the night following the slaying of the lamb would still be the 14th day until sunrise. This method, then, seems to be implied in Exodus 12, because, speaking of "the fourteenth day of the month" it explicitly says: "And you shall observe the feast of unleavened bread, for on this very day I brought your hosts out of the land of Egypt" (v.17; cf. vv. 18, 42, 51).

"Jacob Z. Lauterbach rightly observes that "if they came out at night, that is the night following the fourteenth day, and it is said on the very same day, that is on the fourteenth day, they were brought out, it clearly indicates that the night following the fourteenth day is still part of that day."19

"The foregoing considerations suggest that in Exodus 12 the sunrise reckoning is used, since the events of the night following the slaying of the Passover Lamb, namely, the eating of the lamb with unleavened bread and the departure from Egypt, are both placed on the same 14th day. Elsewhere these events are explicitly placed "on the fifteenth day of the first month" (Num 33:3; cf. 28:17; Lev 23:5), thus indicating the use of the sunset reckoning.

"The sunrise reckoning of the Passover found in Exodus 12 seems reflected also in Mark 14:12 (cf. Matt 26:16) where the slaying of the Passover lamb and the feast of Unleavened Bread are both placed on the same day: "On the first day of Unleavened Bread, when they sacrificed the Passover lamb" (v. 12). This statement suggests a sunrise reckoning, according to which, as Jack Finegan explains, "the day when the Passover lamb was slain and the day when the unleavened bread was eaten were indeed the same day, as Mark 14:12 states."20"

The Bible says the day starts in the morning!

Each day, at sunrise, the world experiences the same beginning as it did on day six of creation. Dawn breaks, the birds sing and the day progresses until evening, when most work for the day is accomplished. Then evening comes, and nighttime, followed at sunrise by a new day. Isn't that how your biological clock works? Does your body recognize midnight as a new day, or 6 PM? NO! You wake up refreshed for a new day in the morning!

The day symbolizes YOUR LIFE!

At sunrise, the day begins, which symbolizes your birth. As morning progresses, the earth warms and gets ready for the sun to work its way across the sky. We say, "the day is young." In the morning, we look at the day ahead as a long time, just as we look at our life when we are teenagers or younger. As we age, the fear of death begins to creep in, as in the afternoon, the hint of nighttime fills the air. The birds start gathering for night, the day is now at its warmest and things begin to slow down, just as our bodies do. The twilight of our lives, represent the twilight of the day. At sunset, the day is old, and so are we in our mortal physical life. Evening comes and the day dies... In our evening we die too.  We sleep that night until DAWN, just as when we die, we sleep in our graves until the LIGHT OF GOD awakes us from our death. For us a new day- our first day of immortal life!

Each 24 hour day, God reenacts the same symbolic signs of our entire life to remind us not to fear the BIG SLEEP but to understand that when we awake, our immortal new life begins!

As John says, "Come Jesus..."

Pope Francis on Why He Chose His Name: ‘How I Would Like a Church Which Is Poor and for the Poor!’

Pope Francis Explains to the Press Why He Picked His Name: Help the Poor

In this photo made available by the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, Pope Francis greets director of the Holy See Press Office Rev. Federico Lombardi, left, during a special gathering for thousands of journalists, media workers and guests the at the Vatican, Saturday, March 16, 2013. (Photo: AP)

(TheBlaze/AP) — The focus of Pope Francis’ papacy began to emerge Saturday as he offered some intimate insights into the conclave that elected him pontiff, describing how he was immediately inspired to name himself after St. Francis of Assisi because he wants to see a church that is “for the poor.”

His comments provided further evidence that this first Latin American papacy would be one that looks beyond the confines of the church itself to the most disadvantaged, named for a 13th-century friar who renounced a wealthy, dissolute lifestyle to embrace a life of poverty and simplicity and go out in the countryside to preach a message of joy and peace.

“Let me tell you a story,” Pope Francis began in a break from his prepared text during an audience for a few thousand journalists and Vatican communications officials in the Vatican’s auditorium.

He described how during the conclave he was comforted by his friend, Brazilian Cardinal Claudio Hummes, as the votes were going his way and it seemed “a bit dangerous” that he would reach the two-thirds necessary to be elected.

When the threshold was reached, applause erupted in the frescoed Sistine Chapel.

“He (Hummes) hugged me. He kissed me. He said, `Don’t forget about the poor!’” Francis recalled.

Is Pope Francis a Socialist Who Will Allow Liberation Theology to Infiltrate the Catholic Church?

Pope Francis Portrait PaintingPope Francis Portrait Painting (Photo credit: faithmouse)

Is Pope Francis (formerly known as Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio) a socialist who will allow liberation theology to infiltrate the Catholic Church? This question, when posed, caused Sam Gregg, research director at the Action Institute, a conservative think tank, to chuckle. TheBlaze interviewed Gregg on Friday to speak further about Francis’ take on poverty and social justice.

As over-the-top as the aforementioned curiosity sounds, since the pontiff’s election on Wednesday, some have quietly been voicing concerns. And there’s no doubt that outlets, pundits and political observers, alike, have spent the past week exploring Francis’ background in an effort to better understand where he stands on the economic front.

A LOVER OF LIBERATION THEOLOGY AND SOCIALISM?

So, what’s the verdict?

Well, it’s clear from his past and present statements and behaviors that Pope Francis cares deeply about the poor and that he lives a very humble and — by all accounts — modest life (he cooked his own meals, took public transportation and decided not to live in lavish quarters). But how far does this devotion to the poor go? Is Francis concerned with government structure and taxation or will he stick firmly to the faith and encouraging believers to help those in need?

This quest for context and its associated curiosities, of course, is nothing new. Whenever a new pope is elected, the public and media, alike, look incessantly for any and all information that will shed light on the new-found faith leader’s character and a past actions. And considering that the Catholic Church has 1.2 billion members across the globe, Pope Francis’ viewpoints matter, mostly because of the control and influence he will have over believers.

Vatican City: Not What or Where You Think It Is

So the Catholic Church has a new leader. And the Vatican has a new head of state. Two job descriptions, filled by just one single guy [1]: the Pope.

Until very recently, Jorge Mario Bergoglio's main concern was tending to the spiritual needs of the 2.5 million souls in his flock, the archdiocese of Buenos Aires. But since his election as pontiff by the College of his colleagues [2] on March 13, the Cardinal now is Pope Francis, and thrust upon him are huge spiritual duties, but also a tiny temporal one.

The new Pope is the numero uno of the Holy See. In its strictest sense, this spiritual jurisdiction only comprises the diocese of Rome. But Rome is where Saint Peter was martyred [3] - and in the Catholic tradition, this Apostle was the first Pope, the current Pope being his 265th successor in an unbroken (though often quite wobbly) line.  Hence the primacy of the papacy over other bishops [4], and the conflation of the Holy See with the entire Catholic Church - or at least with the highest echelons of its Roman bureaucracy, also known as the Curia [5].

Under international law, the Holy See is considered a sovereign entity, as it has been since the Middle Ages, and as such maintains diplomatic relations with most other countries. It is a member of various international bodies[6], and has permanent observer status at the U.N. General Assembly. However, the Holy See should not be confused with Vatican City, independent only since the Lateran Treaty of 1929. The two entities issue distinct passports, and they have different official languages: Latin for the Holy See, Italian for Vatican City.

The Vatican's external borders - or are they?

The Lateran Treaty, concluded between Mussolini's fascist Italy and the Holy See, sealed the recognition by the Pope of Italy's authority over the former Papal States [7] and Rome itself, and by Italy of the independence of Vatican City. Thus was resolved the so-called 'Roman Question', which had arisen in 1861 when almost-unified Italy had declared Rome its capital, and escalated when the Italian state took Rome from the Pope by deadly force in 1870 [8].

Without the independence of Vatican City, the Holy See's sovereignty would be comparable to that of the Knights of Malta [9]: with plenty of ambassadors scattered the world over, the Order is considered sovereign - but lacking a territory of its own, the quality of that sovereignty is strained. To avoid a similar conundrum, Vatican City was granted independence, [to] "ensure the absolute and visible independence of the Holy See" and "to guarantee to it an indisputable sovereignty in international affairs" (as explicitly stated in the Lateran Treaty).

Pope Francis reaches out to Jews

Peres: Pontiff would be 'welcome guest in the Holy Land'

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Like his predecessor, Pope Francis reached out to Rome’s Jewish community at the very start of his pontificate, pledging to continue to strengthen the increasingly close ties between Catholics and Jews.

Just hours after he was elected the first non-European pope in history, Francis sent a letter to Rome’s chief rabbi Riccardo di Segni, saying he hoped to “contribute to the progress that relations between Jews and Catholics” have seen since the 1962-1965 Second Vatican Council.

Recovering the Lost Letter of Jacob

Michael Brown
letter of James in Bible

(Gina Meeks)

It is high time the English-speaking church recovers the long-lost letter of Jacob. For 500 years, we have wrongly called this the letter of James, despite the fact that the Greek does not say James, but rather Jacob (as in Abraham, Isaac and Jacob), and despite the fact that in every other language, the letter of Jacob is rightly identified as such.

By calling this the letter of James, and by referring to the apostle James rather than the apostle Jacob (not to mention Jacob the brother of Jesus, also wrongly called James, who led the congregation in Jerusalem), we have produced theological confusion and cut off an important Jewish dimension to the roots of the Christian faith.

Consider for a moment that in German or Dutch Bibles, this is the letter of Jakobus, while in French it is Jacques and in Polish, Jakub. Check this out in 50 different languages, and in every one, you will find a variation of Jacob. Even the Spanish name “Santiago” comes from San Diego (Saint Diego, which is also a variant of Jacob). Only our English Bibles say James, completely without justification. (The name was corrupted as it passed from Hebrew to Greek to Latin to English, ultimately morphing into James.)

Consider also that when English translators of the Bible saw the name of the patriarch Jacob in verses like Matthew 1:2, they did not translate it to James. Otherwise, we would have had absolutely bizarre statements like, “Abraham was the father of Isaac, and Isaac the father of James, and James the father of Judah and his brothers,” or Jesus would have made reference to “the God of Abraham, Isaac and James” (see Matt. 22:32).

Yet, when it comes to the apostle Jacob or the letter of Jacob, virtually all English translations—with the primary exception of Messianic Jewish versions—refer to this Jacob as James. Why? Does it sound too Jewish?

If so, what do you do with the names of the twelve apostles, as listed in Matthew 10:2-4, which originally sounded like this: “First, Shim‘on, called Kefa, and Andrew [Andrai] his brother, Ya‘akov Ben-Zavdai and Yochanan his brother, Philip [Philippos] and Bar-Talmai, T’oma and Mattityahu the tax-collector, Ya‘akov Bar-Halfai and Taddai, Shim‘on the Zealot, and Y’hudah from K’riot, who betrayed him” (Complete Jewish Bible).

To be perfectly clear, I have no problem rendering the Hebrew name Ya‘akov (Iakobus in Greek) with the English name Jacob. In fact, that is the correct English translation. But I have a real problem calling him James. That is not who he was, and that is not how he should be known.

Papal election stirs Argentina's 'dirty war' past

English: Cardinal Jorge M. Bergoglio SJ, Archb...English: Cardinal Jorge M. Bergoglio SJ, Archbishop of Buenos Aires(Photo credit: Wikipedia)

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Pope Francis is known for his humility, his reluctance to talk about himself. The self-effacement, admirers say, is why he has hardly ever denied one of the harshest allegations against him: That he was among church leaders who actively supported Argentina's murderous dictatorship.

It's without dispute that Jorge Mario Bergoglio, like most other Argentines, failed to openly confront the 1976-1983 military junta while it was kidnapping and killing thousands of people in a "dirty war" to eliminate leftist opponents.

But the new pope's authorized biographer, Sergio Rubin, argues that this was a failure of the Roman Catholic Church in general, and that it's unfair to label Bergoglio with the collective guilt that many Argentines of his generation still deal with.

"In some way many of us Argentines ended up being accomplices," at a time when anyone who spoke out could be targeted, Rubin recalled in an interview .........  MORE>>>>>>>>>>>>

Cardinal Bergoglio elected Pope Francis I

Jorge Mario Bergoglio, an Argentinian cardinal, was elected Pope Francis I today at the Vatican, becoming the first Jesuit pontiff and the first from the Americas.

Bergoglio, 76, was the archbishop of Buenos Aires. He is the Argentine-born son of an Italian railway worker. Described as a compassionate conservative, he came in second in the 2005 balloting that elected Benedict XVI. He is said to prize simplicity and humility and is expected to encourage priests to do shoe-leather evangelism.

When Argentina adopted same-sex “marriage,” three years ago, Bergoglio said “everyone loses” and “children need to have the right to be raised and educated by a father and a mother.”

'Deception': Christians war over worship day

author-image by Joe Kovacs Email | Archive

Two thousand years after Jesus walked the Earth, Christians are at war with each other concerning – as strange as it may sound – a day of the week mentioned in the Ten Commandments.

The issue boils down to: “When is God’s Sabbath?” In other words, what is His holy day of rest?

Most Christians today think it’s Sunday, when the majority of churches hold services.

But others confidently say it’s Saturday, calling Sunday worship “the most flagrant error of mainstream Christianity,” believing Sunday-keepers are victims of clever deception.

Some high-profile evangelical pastors such as California’s Greg Laurie say it’s simply “wrong to set Saturday apart as a special day for worship.”

Whether it’s the Sabbath or what the Bible says is the true, glorious destiny for mankind, find out what some don’t want you to know in the No. 1 best-seller, “Shocked by the Bible: The Most Astonishing Facts You’ve Never Been Told” — autographed only at WND!

Today, some high-school sports teams refuse to play in state tournaments for the sole reason the events are held on Saturday – what they say is God’s Sabbath.

Scottish sprinter Eric Liddell

Conversely, the 1981 film “Chariots of Fire” was based on the true story of Eric Liddell, a Scottish sprinter and Christian missionary who disqualified himself from his best event at the 1924 Olympics because the race was on Sunday – the Sabbath in his view.

Christians seem irreparably split, as this issue goes back to the beginning of time itself.

In the beginning …

There are seven days in a week, but historians have no consensus about the cycle’s origin, since it has no basis in astronomy.

The Bible, though, indicates God created the Earth and its life forms in six days, and then rested on the seventh.

“And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it.” (Genesis 2:2-3)

Biblically speaking, the first six days of the week had no special name. They were simply identified by ordinal numbers, such as the first, second and third day. But the seventh day was given a unique name. In Hebrew, it’s “shabbat,” meaning “rest.” In English, the word is “Sabbath,” and it’s detailed in the Fourth Commandment.

“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work … . For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day.” (Exodus 20:8-11)

In many languages, the word used for the seventh day of the week – what we call Saturday – is actually the same word used for “Sabbath.” In Greek, it is sabbaton; Italian, sabato; Spanish, sábado; Russian, subbota; Polish, sobota; and Hungarian, szómbat. Even the French “samedi” is from the Latin “Sambata dies,” for “day of the Sabbath.”

Names of days in today’s English come from ancient paganism, where they were originally associated with celestial objects and heathen gods.

Table traces the seven days of the week from their pagan Latin origin through the names of Norse gods to their current names in English

In the King James Version of the Bible, the word “Sabbath” appears 137 times. The word “Sunday” is absent, though its equivalent, the first day of the week, occurs eight times – nine if the “first day” of creation is counted.

Some examples of the use of Sabbath include:

Live by the drone, Die by the drone

By Bob Barney

image from www.3ders.orgEveryone is familiar of the passage in the Bible. Jesus told Peter to put away his sword, when Jesus was being arrested, and Peter drew his sword to protect him from arrest. He swiped off the ear of one of the guards. Jesus shouted, “Put away your sword, for those who live by the sword, will die by the sword.” This verse has been often misused by anti-gun groups to demonstrate that Jesus would be against gun ownership. Actually nothing could be further from the truth. They have never read in another passage where Jesus tells his disciples to arm themselves, after he goes away!

The gun debate is not what this article is about. I think that too many of us are not aware of the controversy over drones. While writing this, Senator Rand Paul is leading a filibuster against Obama's CIA nominee because of Attorney General Eric Holders contention that drones can be used to kill Americans – ON AMERICAN SOIL – without due process of law! As alarming as this position is, what is even more alarming is the notion that all of these government leaders are not looking into the future far enough to realize that they may be opening a bottomless pit of locust upon themselves!

First, a little background. Of the many theories about President John F Kennedy's assassination, one that many feel the most probable was that Castro was behind the plot. Why Castro? Well, it seems that our government, under the direction of JFK, using both the CIA and the mafia tried to kill Castro many times! He also was behind the murder of the president of South Vietnam just months before he himself was killed. It turned out that the communist countries learned from us that if we were willing to assassinate their leaders, then they felt free do do the same to ours. JFK may have been ultimately killed by his own policies that backfired.

Now to the present day. America is using drones to kill enemies everywhere, and by doing so, women and children have been killed, along with some Americans citizens. Could others decide to use these same weapons against our own leaders? I think so. And here is my prediction:

Within ten years, drones are going to be as available as I-Pads. Everyone is going to be able to buy them. Most are going to be as small as the palm of your hand. Check this website: http://diydrones.com/ I think you may be surprised. I was.

I can imagine very soon that drones will be as readily available as AR-15's... Maybe even more so! These small, insect like drones will be able to track people without being detected, and yes, KILL people! Here is my scenario: The president goes out to play a round of golf, and zap – he's dead! That is the ugly future that I see coming very soon.

Our leaders should learn that their actions will come back on their own heads... Just an FYI from The Plain Truth.

Civil war within 8 years?

by Barry Farber Email | Archive

You’ve heard of “The Mouse That Roared.” Sequester is the “Lion That Hiccuped.” Warning: This does not mean America is safe.

Historians have an annoying habit of swinging backwards on new headlines like monkeys, looking for bygone parallels that may or may not tell us useful things. The painlessness of the sequester reminds this amateur historian of the “Phony War,” the eight months of World War II after the Germans swallowed Poland, and Britain and France declared war. The world yawned. Comics in England called it the “Sitz-krieg,” opposite of “Blitz-krieg.”

Are you aware that France, in that lull, invaded Germany? French troops crossed the Rhine from Strasbourg to the German city of Kehl, drove around, took some pictures and then went back home in time for dinner. A hit song in Britain around that time was, “We’ll Be Hanging Out Our Washing on the Siegfried Line.” The Siegfried Line was a German defensive line in World War I! But “Sitz” became “Blitz” soon enough. France surrendered in June 1940. A quarter-of-a-million British troops had to be rescued from the Nazis, by flotation devices ranging from boats to canoes and even inner tubes, from the beach at Dunkirk. British comedy closed shop.

Just how unbiblical is 'The Bible'?

author-image by Joe Kovacs Email | Archive
Joe Kovacs is an award-winning journalist and, since 1999, executive news editor of WND. He is the author of two best-selling books: "Shocked by the Bible: The Most Astonishing Facts You've Never Been Told" and its 2012 sequel, "The Divine Secret: The Awesome and Untold Truth About Your Phenomenal Destiny."

An angel of God becomes a Ninja-style warrior who goes on a stabbing spree in the ancient city of Sodom in "The Bible" TV miniseries. The stabbing spree is not mentioned in the actual biblical account.

With Ninja angels in ancient Sodom, the highly publicized TV miniseries “The Bible,” which made its national debut Sunday night on the History Channel, does not always stick to Scripture, despite being produced by two famous Christians and having numerous biblical experts as well as Texas megapastor Joel Osteen advising on the project.

The program was brought to life by Roma Downey, former star of “Touched by an Angel,” and her husband, Mark Burnett, the renowned Hollywood producer of shows such as “The Voice,” “Survivor” and “The Apprentice.”

“Bringing the Bible to the screen came with a huge responsibility and one we took very seriously,” Downey said on “The O’Reilly Factor” last Thursday. “We had a great team of scholars and theologians helping us, making sure that we told these stories accurately and truthfully.”

“I’ve been a believer my whole life, and that was very, very important to us,” she added.

"Touched by an Angel" star Roma Downey portrays Jesus' mother Mary in a scene from "The Bible."

But when the program debuted, it was obvious there were glaring additions made to the TV show that are never mentioned in the Bible.

With the first episode focusing on the events in Genesis and Exodus, the first major non-biblical entry was the inclusion of an angel turning into a Ninja-style warrior wielding two swords and embarking on an expertly choreographed, slow-motion stabbing spree to slay the wicked men of Sodom, as can be seen in the following video clip:

Rome fell — a fact of history!

Modern Romans (Prelim 1975)01 But why? The reasons have never been fully understood. The lessons have not been learned. Many of the same basic mistakes that weakened the once mighty Roman Empire before its toppling by barbarian hordes are now being repeated in America, Britain and the Western world.
You need to understand!

This booklet contains a shocking message — a warning for our day. And unless our peoples and nations wake up and immediately alter their course, they will — in modern fashion, and much more rapidly — suffer a similar crashing downfall!
