NASCAR driver Kurt Busch will not face criminal charges after his ex-girlfriend Patricia Driscoll claimed he grabbed her by the throat and slammed her head into a wall three times.  

But the state attorney general's office has now said it could not establish 'beyond a reasonable doubt' that Busch committed a crime during the September incident.

Last month Busch was indefinitely suspended from NASCAR after Driscoll was granted a 'protection from abuse' order from the Delaware Family Court. 

Busch has lost two rounds of appeals for his reinstatement and has missed the first two races of the season, but officials said he will be following their recommended guidelines to be eligible in the future. 

His attorney Jim Liguori said Busch knew 'all along' he was going to be exonerated and that Driscoll tried to destroy the racecar driver's image in the press.

'But the truth wins out,' he said. 'The truth is its own defense.' 

Driscoll's attorney Carolyn McNeice said they were disappointed with the state attorney general's decision, but that it only made the no-contact order from the family court 'that much more important'. 

Under the order, Busch is not allowed to buy or possess firearms or ammunition, must undergo evaluation for 'mental health problems related to anger control', and must stay 100 yards away from Driscoll - with the exception of NASCAR races and related events - for one year.

White children will be outnumbered by minority kids in the United States in just five years, new Census Bureau projections reveal.   This is the result of an ongoing trend of declining birth among white Americans and a baby boom among immigrant groups, as well as a surge in immigration.   By the year 2020, 50.2percent of all children in the US are expected to be non-white, according to the Census. By 2044, whites will be outnumbered by minorities.   The Census study, released this week, predicts that by year 2060, nearly 20percent of the population will be foreign born - thanks to an influx of 64million new immigrants. 

The populations of Hispanics in the US will rise 114percent - from 55million in 2014 to 63.6million in 2060 - making up about 29percent of the population. 

And the number of non-Hispanic whites will actually likely to decline over the next 40 years - from 200million and 62percent of the population now to 182million and 44percent of the population in 2060. 

Deadline: In less than five years, minority children will outnumber white ones. In 14 years after that, more than half of all Americans will be minorities

 

The number of people who identified themselves as only black will also decline about 8percent to about 59million. 

The number of Asian-Americans will also increase dramatically - even more than the Hispanic population - rising 128percent to 22million. 

The Census reporty also projects a massive surge in the portion of the population that's over age 65. By 2030, 20percent of that population will qualify for a senior discount.

In 2033, there will be more Americans over age 65 than children - thanks to the aging Baby Boom generation. 

One hundred and seventeen years goes by in a flash, according to the world's oldest person.

Misao Okawa celebrated her 117th birthday a day early on Wednesday at a nursing home in western Japan, according to the Associated Press.

During the televised celebration, she told a government official that her life, "seemed rather short."

Okawa, the daughter of a kimono maker, was born on March 5, 1898, in Osaka and was recognized as the oldest person in the world by Guiness World Records in 2013.

Hewn into a hillside, this is the humble stone and mortar house where a scholar believes Jesus was raised.

It has been dated to the early 1st century by a British archaeologist who says an ancient text points to the building as being the home in Nazareth where Mary and Joseph brought up the son of God.

Professor Ken Dark says De Locis Sanctis, written in 670 by Irish monk Adomnan, described the house as located between two tombs and below a church.

The text was based on a pilgrimage to Nazareth made by the Frankish bishop Arculf and tells of a church ‘where once there was the house in which the Lord was nourished in his infancy’.

In the Byzantine era, and again in the 12th century at the time of the Crusades, the ruins of the building were incorporated into churches – suggesting it was of great significance and needed to be protected, the Reading University archaeologist argues.

The house was cut into a limestone hillside and has a series of rooms and a stairway. One of the original doorways has survived, as has part of the original chalk floor. 

Writing in the journal Biblical Archaeological Review, Dr Dark says that while he has no proof, there is ‘no good reason’ to believe it was not Jesus’s home.

He has been researching the ruins, in what is now northern Israel, since 2006. 

The house was first identified as significant in the 1880s after the chance discovery of by nuns an ancient cistern. An excavation was ordered.

Jesuit priest Henri Senes carried out more work in 1936. 

Since 2006, Dr Dark’s team has discovered broken cooking pots, a spindle whorl and limestone artefacts.

The limestone items suggest a Jewish family lived there as Jews believed that limestone could not be impure – and Mary and Joseph were living in Nazareth when the angel Gabriel revealed that Mary would give birth to the son of God, a baby to be named Jesus.

The extraordinary extent of King Edward VIII’s flirtation with Hitler and the determined efforts by the post-war British establishment to bury the evidence has been uncovered in a new book by the biographer of Princess Diana.

Author Andrew Morton says he spent years working through Nazi files to demonstrate Edward’s true sympathy with the Fuhrer - to the extent that Hitler planned to install Edward as a puppet king on the British throne.

Fearing the files were ‘an unexploded bomb’ which could bring down the House of Windsor, prominent figures including King George VI, Winston Churchill and even Allied Supreme Commander Dwight Eisenhower had demanded that all evidence of Edward’s dealings with the Nazis be destroyed.

According to an extract of the Seventeen Carnations - The Windsors, The Nazis and the Cover-Up published in the print edition of The Mail on Sunday, his disloyalty knew no boundaries.

Edward - or the Duke of Windsor as he became known after the abdication - thought his brother, the King, was ‘utterly stupid, that the Queen was an ‘intriguer’ and that Churchill was a ‘war monger’.

Only the continued heavy bombing of British cities, he believed, would bring the country to the negotiating table with Germany.

A Rockland County couple is making headlines for their upcoming anniversary. According to KSDK, the couple will be celebrating their 82nd wedding anniversary this weekend. While martial bliss is always commendable, there’s more — they also have a combined age of 212!

Duranord Veillard’s 108th birthday is this weekend, and his wife, Jeanne, will turn 105 in May of this year. Although it has been reported that Rockland County doesn’t have an actual record of the oldest living couple in the area, the family has reason to believe it’s them.

Duranord was born in 1907 in Haiti and later studied law in Port-au-Prince. He and Jeanne tied the knot in November of 1932. However, when he lost his job as a judge in the late 1960s, Duranord, his wife, and their five children relocated to the United States. After settling in Spring Valley, he worked as a lab technician at the Good Samaritan Hospital, where he later retired from. According to Time magazine, the couple now has 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

During a recent interview, the couple along with their son Vely Veillard, spoke with the Journal News. They shared details about the family’s lengthy legacy and the couple’s current condition. Although Duranord is nearly blind and suffers from hearing problems, Vely revealed he’s still rather sharp for his age.

“He remembers everything,” said Vely. “Look at him! He don’t want to use a cane. He’s a superstar.”

Surprisingly, he’s also quite active for his age. Each morning, he starts his day by doing five to seven pushups before breakfast. He’s also highly alert and extremely talkative.

Duranord also revealed his secret to long living. He offered a two-word explanation: “That’s God!”
