ANARCHY in AMERICA

CIVIL UNREST or CIVIL WAR?

Smoldering Baltimore picks up the pieces: City begins hurried clean-up after night of

An ashen Baltimore awoke on Tuesday morning to reveal a city charred by fire and battled scarred following a night of violent rioting and looting after the funeral of Freddie Gray. Acrid smoke hung in the air over streets where fire crews raced to contain the damage and carnage that broke out just blocks from Gray's emotive funeral. The unrest - which saw looters ransack stores, pharmacies and a shopping mall and clash with police in riot gear - was the most violent in the United States since Ferguson, Missouri, was torn by gunshots and arson late last year. Police said 15 officers were injured, six seriously, on Monday and 27 arrests were made as local gangs and high school students used social media to launch a coordinated 'Purge' - a slang term which comes from a film about rampaging lawlessness.Gray's death gave new energy to the public outcry over police treatment of African Americans that flared last year after police killings of unarmed black men in Ferguson, New York City and elsewhere. The violence appeared to catch city officials and community leaders somewhat off-guard after a week of mostly peaceful protests following Gray's death on April 19. Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, a Republican, declared a state of emergency on Monday and the National Guard was arriving in the city. A one-week curfew was also imposed in the largely black city starting Tuesday night, with exceptions for work and medical emergencies. Answering criticism of not responding quickly enough to Monday's events, Mayor Rawlings-Blake told CNN: "This was an incident that sparked this afternoon ... I think it would have been inappropriate to bring in the National Guard when we had it under control."  Read More Smoldering Baltimore picks up the pieces: City begins hurried clean-up after night of rioting and looting left huge fires raging and 15 police injured as the National Guard prepares to enforce a curfew

Cash Flowed to Clinton Foundation as Russians Pressed for Control of Uranium Company

The headline in Pravda trumpeted President Vladimir V. Putin’s latest coup, its nationalistic fervor recalling an era when the newspaper served as the official mouthpiece of the Kremlin: “Russian Nuclear Energy Conquers the World.”

The article, in January 2013, detailed how the Russian atomic energy agency, Rosatom, had taken over a Canadian company with uranium-mining stakes stretching from Central Asia to the American West. The deal made Rosatom one of the world’s largest uranium producers and brought Mr. Putin closer to his goal of controlling much of the global uranium supply chain.

But the untold story behind that story is one that involves not just the Russian president, but also a former American president and a woman who would like to be the next one.

At the heart of the tale are several men, leaders of the Canadian mining industry, who have been major donors to the charitable endeavors of former President Bill Clinton and his family. Members of that group built, financed and eventually sold off to the Russians a company that would become known as Uranium One.

Have Muslim authorities just carpeted over the Lost Ark?

Israeli scholars are furious after new flooring was fitted 'behind their backs' by the Muslim authority in charge of Judaism's holiest site - potentially covering up clues to the location of the 'Lost Ark'.

The work at the Dome of the Rock was simply meant to replace carpet, worn away by thousands of pilgrims at the gold-topped shrine, which overlooks old Jerusalem.

But when the old carpet was lifted, it revealed previously undocumented ancient floor designs - which could point to where the gold-cased Ark of the Covenant was buried 2,500 years ago.

The discovery of the cryptic geometric patterns immediately caught the attention of some researchers, thrilled at the possibility of solving the Indiana Jones-type mystery which touches upon a holy grail for biblical enthusiasts.

The world's next credit crunch could make 2008 look like a hiccup

(Note: A World Wide Depression and a WORLD WAR is predicted in the Bible on Your Bookshelf! WATCH and be prepared!)

The-beast-of-revelation-13A solar eclipse, a super moon, the FTSE 100 breaching 7,000 and the US Federal Reserve speaking in tongues - truly some kind of financial apocalypse must be nigh. Well, maybe.

We are certainly living in strange times. An unprecedented monetary experiment is coming to a staggered end and no one knows the potential repercussions - a plague of frogs cannot be entirely ruled out. For the time being, the markets remain sanguine, expecting, for example, a gentle increase in the Bank of England’s main interest rate to just 1.5pc by the end of the decade. And, who knows, maybe the markets are right.

But maybe it’s too quiet. Last week, Ray Dalio, the founder of the $165bn (£110bn) hedge fund Bridgewater Associates, wrote a widely-circulated note warning his clients that the US Federal Reserve risked setting off a 1937-style crash when it starts raising interest rates again.

Then, as now, the central bank had spent years printing money in order to help the American economy recover from the 1929 crash. But the side effect was a stock market bubble, which promptly burst when the Fed prematurely increased rates. Mr Dalio is worried about a repeat performance: “We don’t know - nor does the Fed - exactly how much tightening will knock over the apple cart.”  MORE

How Jon Stewart turned lies into comedy and brainwashed a generation

English: Television host interviewing Admiral ...English: Television host interviewing Admiral during a taping session of '. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

So Brian Williams goes out (for six months) humiliated and derided. Jon Stewart goes out (permanently, one hopes) the same day, but on a giant Comedy Homecoming King float, with a 21-gun salute from the media, his path strewn with roses and teardrops.

Why?

Brian Williams lied about his personal exploits a few times. Jon Stewart was unabashedly and habitually dishonest.

Though Stewart has often claimed he does a “fake news show,” “The Daily Show” isn’t that. It’s a real news show punctuated with puns, jokes, asides and the occasional moment of staged sanctimony.

It contains real, unstaged sound bites about the days’ events and interviews about important policy matters.

Stewart is a journalist: an irresponsible and unprofessional one.

He is especially beloved by others in the journo game. (For every 100 viewers, he generated about 10 fawning profiles in the slicks, all of them saying the same thing: The jester tells the truth!).

Any standard liberal publication was as likely to contain an unflattering thought about Stewart as L’Osservatore Romano is to run a hit piece on the pope.   Read the rest>>>>>>>

Titanic's secret savior: The extraordinary story of the Countess of Rothes

Countess of Rothes
Countess of Rothes

On the night that the Titanic sank, one woman, the Countess of Rothes, put the welfare of others before her own, working tirelessly to row them to safety. Angela Young tells her great-grandmother’s incredible story

My great- grandmother Noël, Countess of Rothes, was born on Christmas Day 1878. She was christened Lucy Noël Martha but was always known as Noël after the day she was born. She lived until she was 76 – a long life for those times – but she might easily have died at sea at the age of 33 when, in 1912, she sailed from Southampton on board RMS Titanic.

Noël boarded Titanic with her parents, Thomas and Clementina Dyer-Edwardes, her husband’s cousin Gladys Cherry and her maid Roberta Maioni. Her parents disembarked at Cherbourg on the evening of 10 April. If they hadn’t, her father would surely have died just a few days later.

When Titanic hit the iceberg just after midnight on 15 April, Noël was ordered into the lifeboats, as were all the women and children, while the men were held back.

But the sailor in charge of her lifeboat, Able Seaman Thomas Jones, didn’t think her a woman at all: ‘When I saw the way she was carrying herself and heard the quiet, determined way she spoke to the others,’ he said later, ‘I knew she was more of a man than any we had on board.’

Noël had become châtelaine of Leslie House in Fife when, in 1900, she married my great-grandfather, Norman Evelyn, the 19th Earl of Rothes. She oversaw a large household of staff, so she knew about encouraging, managing and gently persuading people to do as she asked. And my great-grandfather owned a yacht, so she also knew how to row and to take a tiller – unusual skills for a woman in those days. But Able Seaman Jones knew nothing of this, he only saw that the other two men who had boarded his lifeboat in the confusion weren’t seamen (one was a steward, the other a cook) so, when he saw the calming effect Noël had on the terrified female passengers, he put her in charge of them. And when he realised that she knew about boats he put her at the tiller.

Noël boarded lifeboat number eight at one in the morning and for the entirety of that long, cold and frightening night, while she helmed the boat, or rowed, or taught others to row, or comforted the distraught women, she thought about her two young sons safely at home, and prayed she would see them again.

THROW DOWN THE HIGH PLACES!

Print Friendly

image from i0.wp.comIn ancient times, the people of Israel often burned incense on places of pagan worship. The Tanakh, or Old Testament, calls these high places. Modern Jews, both in Israel and especially in the Diaspora, also burn (figurative) incense on (figurative) high places. This will do them about as much good as it did the peoples in the days of the Judges and the Kings. Namely, no good at all.

The modern high places

Last week the voters of Israel gave thirty “mandates” to Benjamin Netanyahu and his Likud Party. They also gave more than thirty other mandates to other parties likely to sympathize with Netanyahu. For that reason, President Reuben Rivlin, against his wishes and desires, invited Netanyahu to form a new government.

This did not come without a struggle, before and after the election. In Israel, an outfit calling itself “V15″ (in the Roman alphabet) took money from the United States Department of State, among others, to try to unseat Netanyahu. No joy, of course. Then the leftist newspaper Haaretz intentionally misquoted something Netanyahu said at a rally before the election. Netanyahu said one cannot expect Israel to agree to a “Palestinian” state today. Under the circumstances, the State of Israel would kill itself by so acting.Haaretz mis-edited his words to mean, “I will never see a Palestinian state, so long as my name is Benjamin Netanyahu!” Or words to that effect.

Haaretz and V15, along with Yitzhak Herzog, Tzipi Livni, and their followers, all burn incense at that most common of leftist high places: the “Palestinian peace process.” They believe, and would have their fellow citizens believe, a “peace process” will suddenly bring good results. It has brought nothing but rockets raining down on Sderot, and murders of Israelis in public restaurants, buses, and so on, since the Six-day War! Yair Lapid made that clear in 2002, in his essay, What Does It Mean to Be an Israeli. He published that in the French Jewish site Terre Promise (The Promised Land) In 2001 that site ran the essay again. CNAV translated it into English.

Jews in Israel, burning incense on leftist high places, do harm enough. Diaspora Jews, burning orders of magnitude more incense on even larger high places, bring greater harm.

Mark Levin mentioned this to Sean Hannity. “I don’t care how many donors the Obama campaign has,” he thundered, “who happen to be Jewish!” He went on to say: Obama does not do Israel any favors. Time and events vindicated Levin this week. Obama:

Suspending the American Dream

Meet the Czech immigrant whose suspender business faces extinction with minimum wage hike

A tiny San Francisco suburb’s attempt to implement one of the nation’s highest minimum wages threatens to shatter an immigrant’s American dream.

John Nemec came to America from the Czechoslovakia in 1966 with $20 in his pocket and zero relatives and friends. He landed a minimum wage job in New York City that netted him $1.25 an hour.

“I thought I was a rich man—anyone coming from my country felt rich. We made 2,000 crowns in a month. That was about $57,” he says. Read More: Suspending the American Dream

Winston Churchill—The Watchman

America and Britain are in grave danger today because most of our watchmen are blind. Here’s why.

Winston Churchill was a watchman crying in the wilderness.

How could so many of our leaders in the United States and Britain—almost all of them—have been so weak in dealing with Hitler? Why was the British Parliament thinking of disarming as Germany rapidly rearmed?

Across the Atlantic, America was assuming a similarly passive posture. We might have remained that way throughout World War II if Japan hadn’t directly provoked us at Pearl Harbor. As Edward R. Murrow said, “America didn’t enter into the war, they were bombed into it.”

Our leaders lacked the watchman quality of a strong leader like Churchill. He faced reality and spoke the truth in a dangerous world. Most leaders in the U.S. and UK lived in a weak world of illusion.

Martin Gilbert wrote the greatest biography ever of this great leader, Winston S. Churchill. In Volume 5, The Prophet of Truth, he wrote, “Into Europe’s ‘highly complicated and electrical situations,’ Churchill declared, ‘our well-meaning but thoughtless and RECKLESS PACIFISTS expect us to plunge with sweeping gestures,ENCOURAGED BY LONG-DISTANCE HALLOOS FROM THE UNITED STATES’” (emphasis mine throughout).

The U.S. was even more pacifist than Britain.    READ THE STORY
