Retired General Stanley McChrystal on Sunday slammed President Donald Trump as immoral, shady, and a liar, adding he wouldn't join the president's administration.

Stanley, who was the U.S. commander in Afghanistan for a year during the Obama administration, didn't hold back in his criticism of the president in an interview with ABC News. 

'I think it's important for me to work for people who I think are basically honest, who tell the truth as best they know it,' he said of why he would not join Trump's administration.

In recent months, seven horses have picked up a fungus-like infection in their hoofs and legs at Chincoteague Refuge.

There is a danger lurking, literally, underfoot. In recent months, seven of the horses have picked up a fungus-like infection in their hoofs and legs, probably by stepping in contaminated wetlands. Seven have died, including four that were euthanized Friday at a field hospital set up to treat them on the Chincoteague Fairgrounds.

“Shadow, Lightning, Calceti’n and Elusive Star as well as the others received the very best care money could buy,” Denise Bowden, a spokeswoman for the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company, which manages the herd, announced on Facebook Friday night. “They just couldn’t fight this off.”

Managers of the herd worry that warmer weather will bring yet more infections and, potentially, a serious threat to the beloved ponies, one of the region’s iconic tourist draws and a feature of the Virginia coast for centuries.

“We’re not panicking, but we’ve never faced a situation like this before,” Bowden said as vets were still trying to save the last four ponies the week before Christmas. “It’s been very, very trying.”   MORE

Classic Recreations, the custom fabricators from Oklahoma, has rolled into SEMA in Las Vegas with a continuation 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 that features a custom-built crate engine making 815 horsepower.

Swathed in monochromatic "Vengeance Black" paint, the racing pony car was built from an original 1969 Mustang body and restored to factory condition. It's the first vehicle released under Classic's new license with Ford, which also permits it to offer continuation versions of the 1969-1970 Boss 302 and Mach 1 Mustangs. The Boss 429 was born when Ford, eyeing intense NASCAR competition from Chrysler, developed a new 429 cubic-inch, 375-hp V8 for the Mustang. Ford built fewer than 900 of them for the 1969 model year and just under 500 for 1970, the only two years they were built.

"The Boss 429 is one of the coolest and rarest Mustangs ever produced, but they have gotten so valuable that most owners won't drive them," Classic Recreations owner Jason Engel said in a statement. "This offers people the chance to own an incredibly rare car that they can actually drive, and with modern chassis and engine tech, these cars will actually be faster and easier to drive than the original."

This continuation version brings a 546 cubic-inch (8.9-liter) mated to a Tremec manual transmission. It also features an updated valve train, electronic fuel injection and engine management systems. There's also a four-link rear suspension and front tubular upper and lower control arms with adjustable coilovers and oversized sway bars for stability at high speeds. It's also been fitted with stainless steel performance mufflers and long tube headers to accentuate the aggressive sound and allow the engine to breathe.

Elsewhere, the Boss 429 gets Michelin Pilot Sport tires mounted to all-new forged aluminum 18-inch wheels made by American Racing and zinc-washed rotors mated to six-piston front and four-piston rear brake calipers. There's also a tilt column and complete rack-and-pinion steering conversion. There are also Kicker Audio speakers, a custom console, aluminum steering wheel and factory Boss 429 200-mph gauges.

The custom conversion Boss 429 starts at $209,000.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi announced Friday that Democrats would create a Select Committee on the Climate Crisis in 2019, which will be headed by Florida Democratic Rep. Kathy Castor.

However, Pelosi’s announcement isn’t placating progressives in her party, such as New York Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who support “Green New Deal” legislation.

“This committee, if it turns out that the rumors about it are true, sound about as useful as a screen door on a submarine,” Ocasio-Cortez spokesman Corbin Trent, told The Hill.

“As it’s portrayed it’s going to be completely incapable of solving the greatest threat to human kind,” Trent said.

Pelosi, who’s expected to be elected House speaker in 2019, said there’s “tremendous pressure” for Democrats to make fighting global warming a central part of their agenda in the new year.

The creation of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis is one way Pelosi plans on satisfying progressives without angering incoming committee chairs, like New Jersey Democratic Rep. Frank Pallone, who want to advance their own climate bills.

“It is with great enthusiasm that I appoint Congresswoman Kathy Castor as the Chair of our new Select Committee on the Climate Crisis,” Pelosi said in a statement issued Friday.

“She will bring great experience, energy and urgency to the existential threat of the climate crisis,” Pelosi said. “This committee will be critical to the entire Congress’s mission to respond to the urgency of this threat, while creating the good-paying, green jobs of the future.”

Pelosi’s climate committee isn’t expected to have subpoena power or authority to advance legislation to the House floor for a vote. If that’s the case, it would be weaker than the previous select climate committee behind the 2010 failed cap-and-trade effort.

“The American people have demanded action to combat the climate crisis, which threatens our public health, our economy, our national security and the whole of God’s creation,” Pelosi said.   MORE

Another blow to Global Warming

Scientists studying the Pacific Ocean have discovered a bacteria that absorbs carbon dioxide (CO2) and could potentially turn itself into a food source for other sea creatures.

The bacteria was discovered in one of the deepest parts of the Pacific Ocean, the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone (CCFZ), a trench which extends 2.5 miles beneath the surface.

Scientists have been exploring the area due to its deep sea mining potential. Trials are set to be carried out and if successful, it could mean 200 million tonnes of CO2 is being turned into biomass every year.

Contractors from Korea, Germany and the UK believe the site to be a promising source of polymetallic nodules, which contain metals like nickel, copper and cobalt.

New Jersey — Unless you’ve been under a rock lately, then you’ve likely seen the unprecedented push by all levels of government to separate law abiding Americans from their guns. No, this is not some conspiracy theory. The president himself ushered in a new level of gun control doing what his liberal predecessor even refused to do by banning bump stocks. However, as states across the country seek to limit the ability of innocent people to defend themselves, people are disobeying.

In May, Gov. Phil Murphy signed a law that reduced the maximum capacity of ammunition magazines from 15 rounds to 10. Citizens immediately sued the government, citing the unconstitutional nature of the ban, but they failed.

“New Jersey’s law reasonably fits the State’s interest in public safety and does not unconstitutionally burden the Second Amendment’s right to self-defense in the home,” the court wrote in their decision. “The law also does not violate the Fifth Amendment’s Takings Clause because it does not require gun owners to surrender their magazines but instead allows them to retain modified magazines or register firearms that have magazines that cannot be modified.”    Read More

The three wise men who likely weren’t three and didn’t show up until two years later.  The star hovering just above the quaint wooden structure that looks more like an English countryside barn than the back end of an inn. The all-too-pristine setting after an impromptu birth.

I thought I had heard it all.

I even shared a take on The Christmas Message based on the traditional interpretation just a few days ago. I thought I understood the Christmas story pretty well after nearly four decades of being steeped in Christianity.

Until I heard the theory that Jesus was born away in a manger — but at Migdal Eder and not in a cramped and filthy cave behind a crowded inn.

Migdal What?!

Migdal Eder seems to have been known as the “Tower of the Flock” located not far outside Bethlehem proper. The exact location is unknown though several credible sites have been suggested. Heretical, I know. But bear with me. I think the imagery alone makes it a theory worth considering.

It was Pastor Mark Spansel who offered the theory on the birthplace of Jesus in a recent sermon at our church, although it seems to have been Alfred Edersheim (1899) who gets most of the credit for breathing relatively new life into it. In Chapter 6 of The Life and Times of Jesus Messiah, he allegedly wrote:

And yet Jewish tradition may here prove both illustrative and helpful. That the Messiah was to be born in Bethlehem, was a settled conviction.

Equally so, was the belief , that He was to be revealed from Migdal Eder, ‘the tower of the flock.’ This Migdal Eder was not the watchtower for the ordinary flocks which pastured on the barren sheepground beyond Bethlehem, but lay close to the town, on the road to Jerusalem.

A passage in the Mishnah leads to the conclusion, that the flocks, which pastured there, were destined for Temple-sacrifices, and, accordingly, that the shepherds, who watched over them, were not ordinary shepherds.

The latter were under the ban of Rabbinism, on account of their necessary isolation from religious ordinances, and their manner of life, which rendered strict legal observance unlikely, if not absolutely impossible.

The same Mishnaic passage also leads us to infer, that these flocks lay out all the year round, since they are spoken of as in the fields thirty days before Passover–that is, in the month of February, when in Palestine [Israel] the average rainfall is nearly greatest.

Thus, Jewish tradition in some dim manner apprehended the first revelation of the Messiah from that Migdal Eder, where shepards watched the Temple-flocks all the year round. Of the deep symbolic significance of such a coincidence, it is needless to speak. [emphasis mine]

Here’s the theory in summary. There was place just outside of Bethlehem city, but still within the region commonly known as Bethlehem, where Passover lambs were kept by specially trained and purified shepherds. The lambs were born in this “tower of the flock” known as Migdal Eder under the watchful eye of the shepherds who would then inspect and either certify them for use as sacrifices in the temple or designate them to be released for common use. The new lambs would, according to some sources, even be wrapped in special swaddling clothes once certified.

Although not on Christmas Day- Dec 25th, Jesus was born, in a manger, and Shepards were there!   So here is Joe Kovacs take of the scene.

One of the most famous stories from the Bible is the account of the birth of baby Jesus.

Every year, it’s read aloud in churches and even re-enacted in plays and Nativity scenes, as shepherds are shown visiting the Son of God lying in a manger in the town of Bethlehem.

But is there something extremely important almost everyone is missing?

The answer is a resounding yes. One could even call it a yes on a biblical scale, because as we’re about to see, there is so much more that can be seen and heard when we keep our spiritual eyes and ears open to some profound truths that God has been broadcasting in Scripture for thousands of years.

No matter how many times we read the words on the pages of our Bible, there always seems to be more to learn, a deeper meaning that helps us make the transition from spiritual milk to spiritual meat. So let’s dive into Scripture to allow the Good News to become even more glorious, with all the credit going to God Almighty.

It’s already well-known that Jesus was born in the small town of Bethlehem, as His parents were law-abiding citizens who traveled there to pay their taxes as part of a census.

But why did God make it happen in Bethlehem?

And why was the Savior placed in a manger?

The winter solstice is the day of the year when the Northern Hemisphere has the fewest hours of sunlight and the Southern Hemisphere has the most.   For indigenous peoples, it has been a time to honor their ancient sun deity.   They passed their knowledge down to successive generations through complex stories and ritual practices.

At the time of the winter solstice they hold a multiday celebration, known as the Shalako festival. 

The days for the celebration are selected by the religious leaders. The Zuni are intensely private, and most events are not for public viewing.

But what is shared with the public is near the end of the ceremony, when six Zuni men dress up and embody the spirit of giant bird deities. 

These men carry the Zuni prayers for rain 'to all the corners of the earth.' 

The Zuni deities are believed to provide 'blessings' and 'balance' for the coming seasons and agricultural year.

As religion scholar Tisa Wenger writes, 'The Zuni believe their ceremonies are necessary not just for the well-being of the tribe but for 'the entire world.'

This comes after the daughter of a former terrorist said her father admitted to relatives that his cell leader, Ahmed Jibril (pictured), led the 1988 plot to down Pam Am 103, which was blown up by an explosive stored in a suitcase in the hold. Author Boyd, in his recent book Lockerbie: The Truth, claims it was Jibril's nephew Elias that broke into the baggage storage at Heathrow to plant the device.

I have written a new translation of the Bible that took over four years in the making of the Bible in Paperback on Amazon. The following is an excerpt of warnings to both Christians and the people of the United States of America. They are not from me but direct quotes from God and the Bible. There are two peoples that the Bible talks about and is written for. The first people, are the Children of Jacob (Israel), as they are God's chosen people. The second are Christians, an even higher order of the chosen people. Unlike the first group, Israel, anyone can be a Christian! Israelites do not imply that they are Christians. Many are, many are not. They are who they are by DNA; whereas Christians are who they are by invisible spirit; The Holy Spirit. However, many Christians are also Israelites, but most of those don't realize it! The nation of Israel is made up of 12 nations! Nations are not small populations of tribal families. Germany, Iran, Russia, the USA are nations. One of the most misunderstood teachings of the Bible is the identity of Israel. Most people believe that this simply is another name for Jews. IT IS NOT! Yes, all Jews are Israelites, but not all Israelites are Jews! The children of Joseph are not Jews, nor are the children of Dan, Rueben, Issachar, Simeon, etc. These other nations have not and are not Jews! God told Abraham and later Jacob, that their descendants would never be able to be counted, because there would be so many of them. Are Jews that numerous? No they are not, and have never been! The promise of a huge large nation was given to the two sons of Joseph. God said that these two nations (the younger son becoming the 13^th nation of Israel) would be the two most powerful nations to ever sit on the face of man's world. Too numerous to count, living in a “promised land,” flowing with milk and honey. What two nations fulfill God's world? The answer is simple. The people of America and those of Great Britain. If you are English, or an American of English, Irish, Scottish, Danish, Scandinavian, Dutch or French heritage, you too are Israelites, and every Bible prophecy that applies to “Israel” applies to you! The warnings to the children of Jacob applies to you, whether you are a Christian or not. You cannot escape your DNA no more than a Jew can. The image of a young dark-haired woman, dressed in a blue sweater and lying face down on his garden hedge, is one that for Peter Giesecke not even 30 years can diminish.

Minutes before his torch beam drew his startled gaze to her lifeless figure in the darkness outside, he had been watching Michael Aspel's This is Your Life on television, when a deep rumbling sound had drawn him to the window.  Unaware of the hell about to unleash itself on the town of Lockerbie, Dumfriesshire, on 21 December 1988, he watched perplexed as a bright light - the broken remains of Pan Am Flight 103 - fell from the sky.

The aircraft had taken off just half an hour earlier from London Heathrow and was on its way to New York with 243 passengers and 16 crew on board, when a Semtex bomb hidden in a suitcase detonated at 31,000 feet.

By 7.03pm, a deadly combination of mangled fuselage and burning aviation fuel had rained down upon the town of Lockerbie with lethal force, with the ensuing fireball incinerating homes in the town's Sherwood Crescent and, with it, 11 residents.

Meanwhile, the bodies of the tragic passengers on board the doomed flight and their personal belongings were scattered on residential streets, surrounding gardens and the countryside around.

But for Mr Giesecke, now 65, the discovery that night of one of those lost souls – Lindsey Otenasek, the 21-year-old Syracuse University student who landed on his hedge in the back garden – forged an unbreakable bond of friendship with her family in the United States. 

To this day, Lindsey's mother, Peggy, 85, still cherishes two small pebbles from Mr Giesecke's garden she took as a permanent reminder of the spot where her daughter – the youngest of her six children - was found, and of the Scottish town which treated her and other victims with such kindness and respect.

Last night, Mr Giesecke recalled the moment the families met for the first time, saying: 'About a year after the bombing, I remember working in my garden when I saw a couple standing uncertainly on the pavement outside my gate. 

The woman looked at me and said 'I believe my daughter Lindsey was found in your garden.'

'We'd been used to families visiting in the streets around in similar circumstances and so their visit wasn't really unexpected. I'd never learned the identity of the girl on my hedge but I'd never forgotten her.'

He added: 'The garden and the area had all been cleaned up by then. The hedge was gone and there were fresh pebbles down. I showed her exactly where I'd found her and she was very grateful I could explain what happened that night.

On December 25, Christians around the world will gather to celebrate Jesus’ birth. Joyful carols, special liturgies, brightly wrapped gifts, festive foods—these all characterize the feast today, at least in the northern hemisphere. But just how did the Christmas festival originate? How did December 25 come to be associated with Jesus’ birthday?

The Bible offers few clues: Celebrations of Jesus’ Nativity are not mentioned in the Gospels or Acts; the date is not given, not even the time of year. The biblical reference to shepherds tending their flocks at night when they hear the news of Jesus’ birth (Luke 2:8) might suggest the spring lambing season; in the cold month of December, on the other hand, sheep might well have been corralled. Yet most scholars would urge caution about extracting such a precise but incidental detail from a narrative whose focus is theological rather than calendrical.
