Appeals court to hear case of reporter alleging surveillance

1RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — When Sharyl Attkisson first began hearing clicking sounds on her phone and her computers started turning on and off in the middle of the night, she thought it was a technical glitch that could be easily fixed.

Attkisson, then a longtime investigative reporter for CBS News, didn’t suspect anything more until her sources in the intelligence community suggested that the government might be spying on her because of critical stories she had done.

Attkisson alleged in a 2015 lawsuit that former Attorney General Eric Holder, former Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe, and unnamed federal agents conducted unauthorized surveillance of her home and electronic devices in an attempt to determine who was leaking confidential information to her.

A federal judge dismissed Attkisson’s lawsuit, finding that resolving the allegations would overstep the court’s authority because it “would require inquiry into sensitive Executive Branch discussions and decisions.”

Attkisson’s appeal will be heard Tuesday by the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Attkisson said she, her husband and daughter first noticed unusual activity with their electronic devices in 2011, after she did a story on Operation Fast and Furious, a failed sting operation in which federal agents allowed firearms dealers to sell weapons to straw purchasers in an attempt to trace the guns back to Mexican drug cartels.

DEMOCRATS' TENUOUS GRASP OF 'MORALITY'

Ten-commandments-nivArticles about the left’s hypocrisy and appalling double standards are barely newsworthy these days. Even so, the Democrats have displayed new lows on that score this week, throwing around the word “morality” as if they are the nation’s arbiters of it.

On immigration, for example, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi denounced President Trump’s call for heightened border security, including a border wall, as “an immorality.” Pelosi never defined the term. Nor – unsurprisingly – did she address the “morality” of the consequences of open borders, including Americans killed by illegal immigrants. There are too many names to list, but according to the Ohio Jobs & Justice PAC, here are a few, to get a sense of the magnitude of these avoidable tragedies: Pierce Corcoran, Cpl. Va Gov on Abortion Bill: Infant Could Be Delivered and Then ‘Physicians and the Mother’ Could Decide If It Lives

Bob Barney

Modern people read the Bible and thing we are nothing like those primitive peoples who  believed in witches, fables, and fake Gods.  They practiced child sacrifice for the good of their nation, how horrible they were we think....  However, we follow our horoscopes, pagan holidays (Christmas for example is a pagan holiday of CHILD BURNING!), and we kill MILLIONS of kids by abortion!  Yet we think we are better, aren't we.  No wonder why God says this about us:

Isaiah 59:2. But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.

Zechariah 7:11-13. But they refused to pay attention and turned a stubborn shoulder and stopped their ears from hearing. They made their hearts like flint so that they could not hear the law and the words which the LORD of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets; therefore great wrath came from the LORD of hosts. And just as He called and they would not listen, so they called and I would not listen," says the LORD of hosts; (yes God does not LISTEN to prayer!

Jeremiah 11:11-14.  Therefore thus says the LORD, "Behold I am bringing disaster on them which they will not be able to escape; though they will cry to Me, yet I will not listen to them."

What Jesus HIMSELF says about Christians who believe "on The Lord", and think they are saved! (caution: This is something your pastor never told you!) Matthew 7: 21“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. 22On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ 23But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

So realize today, we are no better than those pagans that we read about in the Bible.  We have killed millions of children through abortion, we worship a false God, and worse we arrogantly thumb our nose to God Almighty. We will pay for our sins!

From Breitbart.com

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D.) commented Wednesday about a controversial 40-week abortion bill and in so doing said the law allows an abortion to take place after the infant's birth.

"If a mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen. The infant would be delivered. The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother," Northam said, alluding to the physician and mother discussing whether the born infant should live or die.

A Democratic lawmaker in the Virginia House of Delegates proposed a bill Tuesday that would allow abortions through the end of the third trimester of pregnancy. The video of Delegate Kathy Tran presenting her bill led to an exchange where she admitted that her bill would allow for a mother to abort her child minutes before giving birth.

"How late in the third trimester could a physician perform an abortion if he indicated that it would impair the mental health of the woman?" Majority Leader Todd Gilbert (R.) asked.

"Or physical health," Tran said.

"Okay," Gilbert replied. "I'm talking about the mental health."

"I mean, through the third trimester," Tran said. "The third trimester goes up to 40 weeks."

"Okay, but to the end of the third trimester?" Gilbert asked.

"Yup, I don't think we have a limit in the bill," Tran said.

"Where it's obvious that a woman is about to give birth, she has physical signs that she's about to give birth, would that still be a point at which she could request an abortion if she was so certified?" Gilbert asked. "She's dilating."

Tran responded that is a decision between the woman and her doctor would have to make. Gilbert asked if her bill would allow an abortion right before the infant was born.

"My bill would allow that, yes," Tran said.

NBC4 reporter Julie Carey asked Northam about the measure.

"Do you support her measure and explain her answer?" Carey asked.

"I wasn't there, Julie. And I certainly can't speak for delegate Tran. But I would tell you one, the first think I would say, this is why decisions such as this should be made by providers, physicians, and the mothers and fathers that are involved," Northam said. "When we talk about third trimester abortions, these are done with the consent of obviously the mother, with the consent of the physicians, more than one physician by the way. And it is done in cases where there may be severe deformities, there may be a fetus that is non-viable."

Northam continued by saying government shouldn't be involved in these types of decisions and that legislators, especially male legislators, shouldn't be telling women what to do.

"I think this was really blown out of proportion. But again we want the government not to be involved in these types of decisions. We want the decision to be made by the mothers and their providers. And this is why Julie, that legislators, most of whom are men by the way, shouldn't be telling a woman what she should or shouldn't be doing with her body," Northam said.

Carey asked if the law should still require women to have multiple physicians approve an abortion.

"Well, I think it is always good to get a second opinion and for at least two providers to be involved in that decision," Northam said. "These decisions shouldn't be taken lightly.

Northam's office released a statement about his comments.

"No woman seeks a third trimester abortion except in the case of tragic or difficult circumstances, such as a nonviable pregnancy or in the event of severe fetal abnormalities, and the governor’s comments were limited to the actions physicians would take in the event that a woman in those circumstances went into labor," Ofirah Yheskel, a spokeswoman for Northam, said. "Attempts to extrapolate these comments otherwise is in bad faith and underscores exactly why the governor believes physicians and women, not legislators, should make these difficult and deeply personal medical decisions,"

Update 4:24 p.m.: Article was updated to include Northam's statement.

FBI: Las Vegas gunman sought infamy, influenced by father’s memory

So as we can see, The FBI lies about EVERYTHING!

1

More than a year after the FBI began its investigation, the agency has completed an analysis of the man behind the Oct. 1, 2017, mass shooting in Las Vegas, concluding there was "no single or clear motivating factor" driving Stephen Paddock's killing rampage and subsequent suicide.

The FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit shared key findings Tuesday from the report which explored details of Paddock's developmental, interpersonal and clinical history as they related to his behavior before the attack, as well the 11-minute massacre, during which he killed 58 concertgoers at the Route 91 Harvest festival and injured nearly 1,000 others.

"Throughout his life, Paddock went to great lengths to keep his thoughts private, and that extended to his final thinking about this mass murder," officials said in a three-page synopsis.

In the end, the FBI determined the 64-year-old shooter, who rained a hail of bullets from a window of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino into an unsuspecting crowd below, was not driven by a religious, social or political agenda, nor did he have an accomplice to help him carry out his deranged mission. Just as the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department determined in August, the FBI agreed that Paddock acted alone.

Cancer cure? Israel scientists may have found it

(JERUSALEM POST) — A small team of Israeli scientists think they might have found the first complete cure for cancer.

“We believe we will offer in a year’s time a complete cure for cancer,” said Dan Aridor, of a new treatment being developed by his company, Accelerated Evolution Biotechnologies Ltd. (AEBi), which was founded in 2000 in the ITEK incubator in the Weizmann Science Park. AEBi developed the SoAP platform, which provides functional leads to very difficult targets.

“Our cancer cure will be effective from day one, will last a duration of a few weeks and will have no or minimal side-effects at a much lower cost than most other treatments on the market,” Aridor said. “Our solution will be both generic and personal.”

Who are the world's richest people?

Just 26 billionaires now own as much wealth as the poorest 3.8billion people – half the world's population – combined, according to Oxfam.

A new report by the charity says the 26 richest men and women in the world control a combined £1.1trillion – equal to everything owned by the bottom 50 per cent of all people.

But Oxfam was criticised for alleged flaws in its report and for pushing a hard-Left agenda that goes beyond its remit as a fundraising body. The charity counts anyone whose debt is greater than their assets as poorer than someone who is debt-free.

For example, a Harvard law graduate with £100,000 of student debt who has just landed a job with a massive salary would be judged poorer than an Ethiopian farmer who is debt free.

Here, MailOnline looks at the 26 wealthiest men and women in the world, according to the Forbes rich list - and starting with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos:

Donald "Jimmy Carter" Trump

By Bob Barney

1

Will Trump be an FDR. or. a Jimmy Carter?

Before my proTrump friends try to assassinate my character, let men first state that I was a pro Trumper before most of the gang that idolizes him today.  Yes, I knew that many of his promises could never be kept- I think most have forgotten how he would have no problem sending illegals back, stopping Muslims from entering the country, and building a complete border wall, even across mountains, never realizing that the liberal courts would stop him at every step of the way, which they have, but I thought that he would change the Deep State in Washington and destroy it.

Don't get me wrong, Trump has been a great president (so were other one term presidents), this economy is roaring, and my businesses have boomed because of it. This is, regardless of what anyone would say, a TRUMP ECONOMY!  His lowering of income taxes, especially on corporations, and his deregulatory initiatives have caused the greatest economy in my lifetime. This economy is far greater than that of Ronald Reagan's at the same time frame of being in office. Trump has done a great deal more than he will ever get credit for.

The sad fact is that he has surrounded himself with never-Trumper's, and the Republican Party is led by DEEP STATE swamp creatures that will always be never Trumper's.   We love to blame the press, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer for the problems Trump is having, but frankly we should have always expected this to be the case. It is the Republican Party, and his own Executive branch picks that have caused his weak poll numbers, and that is a problem!   Don't believe the pro-Trump propaganda that he is doing great with the American people because he is not!  In Fact, Trump is the most unpopular president at the 1-year mark, and though a bit higher, he has never passed the 50% mark, needed to be reelected.  As you can see, even Jimmy Carter had better numbers!

Approval, disapproval and net approval ratings of presidents since 1945 after 364 days in office, according to the FiveThirtyEight aggregate

PRESIDENT INAUGURATION YEAR APPROVE DISAPPROVE NET APPROVAL
John Kennedy 1961 79% 10% +69
George W. Bush 2001 81 13 +68
George H.W. Bush 1989 78 11 +67
Lyndon Johnson 1963 74 15 +59
Dwight Eisenhower 1953 71 18 +53
Richard Nixon 1969 60 23 +38
Jimmy Carter 1977 55 27 +28
Bill Clinton 1993 57 34 +22
Harry Truman 1945 50 35 +15
Ronald Reagan 1981 49 40 +9
Barack Obama 2009 50 43 +7
Gerald Ford 1974 44 39 +5
Donald Trump 2017 40 55 -15
Average without Trump   62 26 +37

All numbers rounded.

The following excerpts are from an article written by Stephen Hess in 1978 entitled 'Jimmy Carter: Why He Failed'   Mr. Hess wrote this in June 1978, when Jimmy Carter was just midway through his term. We think it’s worth reprinting. It shows how early Carter’s flaws became apparent to eagle-eyed pundits like Mr. Hess.

"Uncertainty radiating from the top, furthermore, lowers morale throughout the permanent government, hence it adversely affects the implementation of programs. While the bureaucracy may be the butt of jokes, it is also the motor force that provides services on a day-to-day basis—and it too looks for consistent signs from a president.

American presidents have not been ideologues. And it is certainly not my notion that Carter should become one. But all modern presidents, whether “liberal” or “conservative”—no matter what their other faults—have had some programmatic view of government in which the specific parts usually could be fitted. This is not the case with Carter’s domestic program, although he does seem to have a firmer view of defense policy (perhaps because of his naval background).

So the basic problem of this administration will not be corrected by rearranging boxes on organization charts or by doing a better selling job to Congress and the public."

What many may have forgotten about Jimmy Carter was that he was a Democrat with a Democratic HOUSE and SENATE, yet his own party voted down almost everything he ran on.  Sound familiar?  You see, Carter, like Trump was an outside Washington politician, and like Trump, the people wanted someone other than a DC Swamp-like person for their president after what the nation went through with Watergate.  The Democrats did to Carter, what the Republicans are doing to Trump!   Both were outsiders, and swamp creatures don't like any other creature that enters their swamp!  I think a case could be made that John Kennedy was killed by the swamp, and Richard Nixon was forced to resign because of them.   Certainly the swamp tried everything they could do to get rid of Ronald Reagan with Irangate, and maybe even a covered up assassination attempt.

Trump’s approval rating is 22 percentage points lower than the average modern president’s. Meanwhile, his net approval rating (approval rating minus disapproval rating), -15 percentage points, makes him the only president in negative territory one year through his first term. Trump’s closest precedent is Gerald Ford, who had a net approval rating of just +5 points one year in.   Would Trump have won if his opponent wasn't Hillary Clinton.  Heck, not even Joe Biden's family voted for her, it was announced last week.

What Trump must do:

There is a Trump following out there that believes Trump is in total control and all of this negative Trumpism is all part of some plot to destroy the swamp.  This is totally BS!  Trump is not in control of his administration.  To think that he didn't know that the guy he picked (or really someone else did) for Attorney General was Bob Mueller's great friend for 30 years is incredible. To me it shows a guy that is not into details.   Ronald Reagan was also accused of this, but facts revealed much later on was that he was a totally hands on president when it came to details, he only appeared out of control, but knew every detail of every aspect of policy.  Trump does not.   Just because he gets up at 3 in the morning and starts to tweet, does not mean that when it comes down to running the day to day operations of government, he is not lazy, because evidence shows that he is.   Tony Schwartz, who ghostwrote "The Art of the Deal," has said, "I seriously doubt that Trump has ever read a book straight through in his adult life."  That is quite incredible.  This guy is not anti-Trump!

Rex Tillerson gave an interview to CBS News. In it, he described what he perceived as a difficult working relationship with President Trump.

“When the president would say, 'Here's what I want to do, and here's how I want to do it,' and I'd have to say to him, 'Well, Mr. President, I understand what you want to do, but you can't do it that way. It violates the law, it violates the treaty,' you know. He got really frustrated,” Tillerson said. “I think he grew tired of me being the guy every day who told him he can’t do that and let’s talk about what he can do.”

Trump and the pro-Trumper's bashed Tillerson (a man by the way I, in The Plain Truth, said would be a horrible person for the job when he was nominated ---How did I know?) as stupid.  Well, WHO PICKED HIM?   And two years later, his picks haven't gotten any better.  From the Plain Truth: Trump Appoints Never-Trumper Elliott Abrams Envoy to Venezuela   and Trump inability to pick a loyal aides: Trump surrounds himself with NEVER TRUMPERS.

Take John Kelly.  Trump picked him for chief of staff.   What did Kelly do?  He fired every pro-Trump person in the White House he could!   Sebastian Gorka, Steve Bannon, and Anthony Scaramucci to name a few.   Then when Kelly leaves, he trashes Trump.   Can anyone honestly think that this is a strategy, or a smart strategy at that?

Then there is this  Q-Anon thing.  There are people that actually hang on every message from anonymous posters that don't even have the guts to be identified!  The most bogus piece of trash post I have ever read.  To me, Q-Anon is the Deep State or Democrat party fooling the brainless never Trumpers, who live in a fairy tale land.  The ship is sinking, yet they think it's all an illusion.

From the beginning I could not understand why Trump, (when he had both house of Congress) did not fire Mueller, ORDER an investigation into Hillary Clinton, The Clinton Foundation, Debbie Wassermann Schultz, Dianne Feinstein's Communist China ties (including her own chauffeur who was a Chinese agent, and James Comey. All of the named would have been indicted, yet Trump never ordered it, while allowing decent men that supported him to be arrested.

Trump is almost out of options, and frankly if he does not change course, and fires all of the never Trumper's, as well as bring his policies in small short but concise White House Oval TV messages to the American people (as Ronald Regean did) he will not be reelected in 2020. In fact, I doubt he will win the Republican nomination!

Trump was weakened for caving in on the wall and government shutdown and the Democrats know it!   I suspect they got him wounded really bad, and they will now try and give him some "wins" to keep him "in play" until 2020.   They don't after all want Pence!

It's not over for Trump, but contrary to what many believe, it almost is.

Just my opinion.   I am still for Trump! I just want him to win.

Astounding legislation protects cows but not babies

Who would have thought the headlines would be filled with accusations of politicians who violate their religious beliefs because of laws concerning abortion?

The latest to be so accused – certainly not the first, nor the last – is New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. The reason? His signature on the Reproductive Health Act on Jan. 22 which legalizes abortion in New York State any time during a woman’s pregnancy.

But are you aware of a new law that protects pregnant females and, in fact, forbids any procedure that puts the unborn child in danger?

I saw the news report from New Jersey last month that Brianna had escaped a truck that was taking her to the place where she and her unborn baby would be killed.

She got away and was taken to a place of sanctuary were she gave birth; mother and child doing fine.

Democratic Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly was so taken with Brianna’s story that he’s drafted legislation that appears headed to passage.

His law would make transporting pregnant livestock for slaughter and killing pregnant livestock a fourth-degree crime – carrying big fines.

You got it. Brianna is a cow and she got away from the people who planned to slaughter her and her unborn baby.

Listen to the reasons for Wimberly’s proposed law. He says. “Cattle can’t defend themselves on issues like this. … It’s animal rights. It’s the right thing to do. It’s the moral thing to do and you’re protecting something that really can’t protect itself.”

Border Patrol struggles with flood of sick migrants

Border Patrol agents have spent nearly 20,000 hours since October driving asylum seekers to and from hospitals for medical evaluations, according to newly released Department of Homeland Security data.

Since Oct. 1, 2018, the Border Patrol, which works in rural areas between border crossings, has “seen an increase in the numbers of apprehended individuals requiring medical assistance.”    A total of 2,224 migrants, primarily from Guatemala and Honduras, have been hospitalized due to health issues that could not be treated on site in the last month alone, according to a CBP statement.

The department said the spike in illnesses among migrants is forcing federal law enforcement to spend less time focused on serious threats because they are facilitating hospital and urgent care trips. It’s also affecting communities that are trying to help with medical emergencies but are severely short-staffed.

For example, Hidalgo County, located in the southernmost part of New Mexico, is comprised of fewer than 5,000 residents. The average resident makes $32,000 a year, and the low incomes mean the county has less money to use. Its general budget is just $1.7 million.

MSNBC’s Matthews Wonders if Kamala Harris Will Appeal to Black Voters- 'Not Really Black'

image from encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.comMonday on MSNBC’s “Hardball,” host Chris Matthews wondered aloud if Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) will appeal to black voters in the 2020 presidential election due to her being mixed Jamaican and Tamil Indian.

“Is she seen as African-American?” Matthews asked Democratic strategist Jamal Simmons about Harris after pointing out how her campaign color scheme copied Shirley Chisholm’s when she became the first major-party black candidate to run for president.

Simmons responded, “Yes, she’s African-American. … She’s really planting her feet in the African-American community and I think she’s going to be a very strong candidate. Now, Cory Booker is also going to do the same thing.”

“Is he running? He’s another B, where is he?” Matthews interrupted. “One of the Bs, and he’s not in there. When’s he coming in?”

The 'Deep State' Calls Are Coming From Inside Trump's White House

Reposted. Run Dec 18 2018

Forward by Bob Barney... With the appointment of another Deep State, Never Trumper

1Mick Mulvaney, Trump has again picked an insider that does not agree with the Trump agenda, and may actually work against him, maybe even helping him get impeached.  I know that there are people out there that thinks Trump is the smartest man in the world, but he is certainly not acting like he is, in fact he is acting against the interest of those who supported him IN FAVOR of globalist in many areas.

Steve Bannon reportedly has told people he thinks President Donald Trump has just a 30% chance of completing his four-year term.  I starting to agree!

According to two of the sources, Bannon warned Trump several months ago about the possibility of getting removed from office via the 25th Amendment, prompting Trump to ask, "What's that?"

stipulation of the 25th Amendment allows the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet — that is, 13 of 24 Cabinet members — to vote the president out of office. Bannon reportedly considered it a more likely scenario than Trump's impeachment.

So that’s consistent. Like Pence, Pompeo has also denied being the author, but Bob Woodward’s book Fear makes numerous points from various members of Trump’s cabinet and staff which are also consistent with the op-ed.

  • According to Woodward’s book, Secretary of Defense James Mattis once said that Trump “acted like — and had the understanding of — a fifth- or sixth-grader.” The president’s poor understanding of global diplomacy occurred during a meeting about troops on the Korean Peninsula.

  • John Kelly called Trump an “idiot” who has “gone off the rails” to “Crazytown.”

  • In a bid to thwart a third world war, aides reportedly hid documents from Trump. James Mattis apparently once snapped at Trump that “We’re doing this in order to prevewww.rawstory.com/...nt World War III,” after he was asked why the U.S. is spending money to detect North Korean missile launches.  (This was part of the same exchange that led to former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson supposedly called Trump a “fucking moron.”)

  • Following the launch of chemical attacks against his own people, Syria’s Bashar al-Assad apparently almost became a target of U.S. assassination. According to Woodward’s sources, when the president heard news of the attack, he exploded and ranted “Let’s kill the f*cking lot of them.” Aides convinced him to instead opt for an air strike.
  • Several staffers have snatched paperwork from the Oval Office desk to protect the nation. In one case, an aide swiped a letter that would have withdrawn the U.S. from a trade agreement with South Korea that affects our ability to monitor North Korean nukes. “I stole it off his desk,” former chief economic adviser Gary Cohn said, according to the report. “I wouldn’t let him see it. He’s never going to see that document.”
  • Former staff secretary Rob Porter said he also stole documents off the Resolute desk. “A third of my job was trying to react to some of the really dangerous ideas that he had and try to give him reasons to believe that maybe they weren’t such good ideas,” Porter reportedly said.

This all matches Scarramucci’s claim that there are people in the WH who think they have to protect the country from Trump.

“There are people inside the administration who think it is their job to save America from this president,” Scaramucci said on CNN’s "New Day."

“That is not their job. Their job is to inject this president into Americaso that he can explain his views properly and his policies, so we can transform America and drain the swamp and make the system fairer for the middle- and lower-income people,” Scaramucci continued.

Er, what?  And also, ewww.     MORE

Fascinating photos from the 1970s reveal Amtrak's early days

From staff sporting designer knee-high boots and hot pants to its vibrant red and purple dining cars, when Amtrak trains launched in 1971 it offered ordinary Americans an exciting new travel experience on a network of 23 routes spanning 43 states.

In 1970 President Richard Nixon introduced the Rail Passenger Service Act to launch the United States' first national 'modern, efficient, intercity railroad passenger service’, with Amtrak born the following year.

Amtrak inherited a number of different historic locomotives from its predecessors but by 1973 unveiled its own models and offered customers a fleet of new or refurbished all-electric passenger cars.

With taglines in the 1970s encouraging travellers to ‘get off your wheels and on to ours’ Amtrak showcased a series of vibrant adverts depicting the freedom of the network. It also took the TurboTrain on a national tour for the public to see it up close, according to Amtrak's archives.

Interiors were modernised with dazzling colourful flourishes and guests could enjoy food and beverages served with signature blue China. In first class, travellers had reclining swivel chairs and all passengers onboard could make use of a phone booth.

Amtrak’s attempt at revitalising rail road journeys is most visible in photos of its staff’s contemporary, designer uniforms of bold red mini-skirts or hot pants and sweaters emblazoned with the company’s inverted arrow logo. The attendant’s look was created to reflect the travel aspiration of their counterparts in the skies. All aboard for a tour of Amtrak's archives.

When Amtrak took over the nation's intercity passenger rail service in 1971, it inherited locomotives and rolling stock obtained from the predecessor railroads. In this photo, the E8 wears Amtrak Phase II livery from 1975

THE MYTH OF AMERICAN CAPITALISM EXPOSED

image from www.infowars.com

FORWARD by Bob Barney:As a small manufacturer trying to compete against the giants out there that rape their customers with out of this world pricing,I see ruff times ahead for companies like ours. We don't have the millions, to buy off Congress, city officials and other government agencies and I think the dems in Congress will really go after small business like Jimmy Carter did. I think most forgot, or never knew how many small businesses were regulated out of business by Carter. It's bribery. The big companies pay the bribes, and the politicians pay them back with selective regulations designed to put the little guy out of business.

Today's Story:     COMPETITION IS DYING AS BIG CORPORATIONS GOBBLE UP EVERYTHING

Vibrant competition is absolutely essential in order for a capitalist economic system to function effectively.

Unfortunately, in the United States today we are witnessing the death of competition in industry after industry as the biggest corporations increasingly gobble up all of their competitors.  John D. Rockefeller famously once said that “competition is a sin”, and he was one of America’s very first oligopolists.  According to Google, an oligopoly is “a state of limited competition, in which a market is shared by a small number of producers or sellers”, and that is a perfect description of the current state of affairs in many major industries.  In early America, corporations were greatly limited in scope, and in most instances they were only supposed to exist temporarily.  But today the largest corporations have become so huge that they literally dominate our entire society, and that is not good for any of us.

Just look at what is happening in the airline industry.  When I was growing up, there were literally dozens of airlines, but now four major corporations control everything and they have been making gigantic profits….  MORE

The plastic surgery once regarded as relatively harmless can have numerous side effects, including cancer

In both Canada and the United States, women have had little way of knowing until recently that certain breast implants are linked to cancer and other dangerous side effects.

Canada’s “erratic and secretive system of medical device incident reporting” meant that women who decided to undergo the elective procedure were never told about the risks of cancer, even as doctors and regulators were made aware of the issues, as the Toronto Daily Star recently reported.

And in the United States, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for years allowed breast implant manufacturers to report problems in bulk, making it appear as though thousands of complaints were just one.

That suddenly changed this fall, when the Associated Press found that the FDA’s system had more than 4,000 injury reports related to breast implants in the last half of 2017 alone. Another 8,000 injury reports were filed in the first six months of 2018. Previously, there had appeared to be only 200 complaints filed annually about breast implants in the United States.

The data suddenly changed because the FDA last year instructed device\ makers that they needed to file individual reports for each case rather than filing in bulk. But the FDA only made that request to device makers due to an ongoing lawsuit over breast implants and an attorney’s motion for discovery for the case.

The agency is otherwise planning to continue to allow device makers to report problems in bulk, the AP reports, creating what some watchdogs say is a deceptive image that numerous devices are safer than they really are.

Trump’s Critics Are Wrong about the 14th Amendment and Birthright Citizenship

(Photo Illustration: NRO)

Donald Trump continues to bewilder political experts. He unabashedly wades into politically dangerous territory and yet continues to be rewarded by favorable poll results. He has clearly tapped into a reserve of public resentment for inside-the-Beltway politics. How far this resentment will carry him is anyone’s guess, but the Republican establishment is worried. His latest proposal to end birthright citizenship has set off alarm bells in the Republican party.

Critics say that Trump’s plan is unrealistic, that it would require a constitutional amendment because the 14th Amendment mandates birthright citizenship and that the Supreme Court has upheld this requirement ever since its passage in 1868. The critics are wrong. A correct understanding of the intent of the framers of the 14th Amendment and legislation passed by Congress in the late 19th century and in 1923 extending citizenship to American Indians provide ample proof that Congress has constitutional power to define who is within the “jurisdiction of the United States” and therefore eligible for citizenship. Simple legislation passed by Congress and signed by the president would be constitutional under the 14th Amendment.

Birthright citizenship is the policy whereby the children of illegal aliens born within the geographical limits of the U.S. are entitled to American citizenship — and, as Trump says, it is a great magnet for illegal immigration. Many of Trump’s critics believe that this policy is an explicit command of the Constitution, consistent with the British common-law system. This is simply not true.

The Worst World War Is Yet to Come

TimerunningoutThe 20th century was witness to the most terrible wars in human history. Thankfully we haven’t seen anything on like scale in the 70 years since World WarII. But will there ever be a time like this again, when genocidal leaders in attempting to rule the world wreak death and havoc on this level?

Your Bible says there will be such a time.

In the face of growing world crises, a charismatic leader akin to the worst dictators of the past will ultimately arise in Europe with promises of peace and safety. Ten other leaders will unite with him, giving their national sovereignty over to this ruler for a short time. The biblical book of Revelation refers to both the power bloc and its leader as “the Beast”—a revival of the Roman Empire.

In fact, this revival will follow the pattern of the Holy Roman Empire in returning to the church-state union of medieval times. The Beast ruler will form a partnership with the prophesied False Prophet, the leader of the great false church system known as Babylon the Great (Revelation 17)—religion being seen as a means to hold the politically unstable empire together. False miracles will convince the masses to follow the False Prophet and the Beast.

Despite its weaknesses, the European power will, like its predecessors, be transformed into a war-making apparatus. An astonished world will ask: “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” (Revelation 13:4). Yet there will indeed be war— the very worst ever.

North-south conflict—the spark

Conflict between this coming European superpower and a Middle Eastern coalition will be the final manifestation of the struggle detailed in the prophecy of Daniel 11 between powers to the north and south of the Holy Land—Syria and Egypt respectively in ancient times, with the northern power eventually becoming Rome and its successors. Daniel 11:40 says that at the time of the end the king of the South will push or ram at the king of the North.

Psalm 83 presents a confederation of nations, now Muslim, united in common cause against Israel (Psalms 83:1-18). This may equate to the final kingdom of the South, perhaps centered in Egypt, the largest Arab state, or possibly Saudi Arabia, homeland of Islam.

Daniel 11:40 shows that some kind of provocative action will be launched from this region against the final king of the North, the European Beast power. It might be a major terrorist attack, in line with jihadists’ dreams of striking against European Christendom. In any case, this is the spark that ignites a new world war, as we next see huge retaliation by the northern power, which includes its forces invading and occupying parts of the Middle East and North Africa—and entering the Holy Land (Daniel 11:40-43).

Trump stands up for union jobs, Dems shut them down

If Rip Van Winkle woke up today, he’d be shocked at the role reversal our political parties have undergone.

President Trump supports labor unions while Democrats betray the very people who built their party.

For example, the president and his EPA nominee, Andrew Wheeler, are defending union jobs at small refineries threatened with bankruptcy by an EPA program that benefits Wall Street traders.

The law provides for hardship exemptions to prevent small refineries, many of which are located in areas where they are the only supplier of gasoline in the region, from being shut down.

In his confirmation hearing, Wheeler told senators he’s granting exemptions to save the small refiners, reversing the previous administration’s refusal to act.

At the same time, President Trump is protecting American workers against China’s economic aggression that targets our manufacturing and high-tech industries.

In contrast, Bill Clinton threw organized labor to the wolves when he instituted an open-door trade policy with China. He gave the investment bankers who finance political campaigns the green light to move entire industries across the Pacific and destroy the livelihoods of millions of Americans.

Nowadays, the Democratic Party has forgotten working men and women and designated professional environmentalists as its priority constituency. These activists would shut down the Atlantic Coast Pipeline backed by the labor unions. The pipeline will carry clean burning natural gas, create thousands of blue-collar jobs and provide fuel for homes, offices and industries.

More proof FBI probe will likely reveal more than just leaks

By:JOHN CRUDELE

image from thenypost.files.wordpress.comIt was discovered by others last week that James Baker, the former chief attorney at the FBI, was the subject of an investigation for leaking information to the press. That tidbit accidentally came out when a letter between two Republican congressmen was made public.

Don’t be shocked if it turns out to be much more.

As I reported exclusively back in October 2016, Baker was one of the four people who were present during a meeting in July of that year when it was decided not to prosecute Hillary Clinton for mishandling her emails.

Ex-FBI director James Comey, former deputy director Andrew McCabe and a technology expert were the others.

That’s the group that Comey said “unanimously” agreed not to charge Hillary, despite the fact that the rest of the investigative team wasn’t consulted and the fact that the FBI isn’t supposed to make such decisions.

Native American activist Nathan Phillips has a criminal record

The Plain Truth hurts Liberals a great deal- as well as many on the "religious" right!

image from thenypost.files.wordpress.com

Native American activist Nathan Phillips, whose confrontation with a Kentucky high school student went viral last week, has a criminal record, including assault and escape from prison, according to a report.

The 64-year-old Omaha Nation elder was captured on video facing off against a group of students from Covington Catholic High School in Park Hills, Kentucky, at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC.

When he was a teen and in his early 20s, Phillips was charged with escaping, assault and various alcohol-related crimes, according to the Washington Examiner, which cited news reports from his hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska.

He was charged as a 19-year-old “with escaping from the Nebraska Penal Complex where he was confined May 3,” according to a 1974 article in the Lincoln Star.

Later that year, Phillips pleaded guilty to assault and was fined $200. He also was charged with underage possession of alcohol in 1972, 1973 and 1975, as well as negligent driving, the Examiner reported.

In August 1973, a charge of destruction of property against him was dropped, but he was sentenced to a year of probation for a related charge of alcohol possession by a minor.   MORE

Trump: SOTU Won’t Happen Until After Shutdown Ends

President Donald Trump delivers his State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress on Capitol Hill in Washington, Jan. 30, 2018.President Donald Trump will give the State of the Union address after the partial government shutdown ends.

Once again President Trump drops the ball in regard to the State of the Union Address. Rand Paul made an excellent suggestion last week that The White House ignored.  He proposed moving the SOTU speech to the Senate, which is controlled by the Republicans.   That was a great idea, as no House Democrat could have been able be shown on TV, not even the media darling Cortez!  Trump continually is making mistake after mistake, and those that think this is some great strategy, is quite full of nonsense!

‘THE SMOKING GUN’: Google Manipulated YouTube Search Results for Abortion, Maxine Waters, David Hogg

In sworn testimony, Google CEO Sundar Pichai told Congress last month that his company does not “manually intervene” on any particular search result. Yet an internal discussion thread leaked to Breitbart News reveals Google regularly intervenes in search results on its YouTube video platform – including a recent intervention that pushed pro-life videos out of the top ten search results for “abortion.”

The term “abortion” was added to a “blacklist” file for “controversial YouTube queries,” which contains a list of search terms that the company considers sensitive. According to the leak, these include some of these search terms related to: abortion, abortions, the Irish abortion referendum, Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and anti-gun activist David Hogg.

The existence of the blacklist was revealed in an internal Google discussion thread leaked to Breitbart News by a source inside the company who wishes to remain anonymous. A partial list of blacklisted terms was also leaked to Breitbart by another Google source.

In the leaked discussion thread, a Google site reliability engineer hinted at the existence of more search blacklists, according to the source.

“We have tons of white- and blacklists that humans manually curate,” said the employee. “Hopefully this isn’t surprising or particularly controversial.”

Others were more concerned about the presence of the blacklist. According to the source, the software engineer who started the discussion called the manipulation of search results related to abortion a “smoking gun.”

The software engineer noted that the change had occurred following an inquiry from a left-wing Slate journalist about the prominence of pro-life videos on YouTube, and that pro-life videos were replaced with pro-abortion videos in the top ten results for the search terms following Google’s manual intervention.

Supreme Court Takes Major NRA Second Amendment Case from New York

Supreme Court Takes Major NRA Second Amendment Case from New York

The Supreme Court on Tuesday granted review in the first Second Amendment case in almost a decade, a case supported by the National Rifle Association (NRA), and perhaps signaling what to expect from the new membership of the Supreme Court.

New York City law forbids residents from owning any handguns without a permit, and that permit allows the holder to possess guns only in their home or en route to or from one of seven shooting ranges in the city. A gun owner cannot transport a firearm outside the home for any other purpose, even if it is unloaded and locked in a case in the trunk of a car.

The New York State Rifle & Pistol Association and several of its members sued in federal court, arguing that this regulation is unconstitutional.
