(JERUSALEM POST) -- For centuries thousands of pilgrims a year have made the journey to Bethany Beyond The Jordan, a site on the east bank of the Jordan River which Christians believe to be the exact spot where Jesus was baptized.

This number could swell to one million visitors a year if a proposed phased six-year estimated $300 million project for a 'tourist city' adjacent to what is a designated UNESCO World Heritage site goes ahead.

Among those who gathered at the riverbank last week were Jordan's King Abdullah and Lebanon's Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Al-Rai, who joined architects, museum curators and investors to hear about the proposal from its organizers.

A judge in Indiana has said that a new law that would protect nearly all unborn children from abortion cannot take effect – because it violates the religious beliefs of pagans.

It is the Washington Stand that has documented the decision from Heather Welch, a superior court judge in Marion County.

Welch released a decision and an accompanying injunction against the state's pro-life law because she said it violates the views of Hoosier Jews for Choice and a handful of individuals – all anonymous.

The individuals include a couple of Jewish people, a Muslim and a pagan.

Welch justified the ruling with: "[M]any [p]agans believe that in recognition of women’s autonomy demanded by their sincere beliefs, women must be allowed to obtain abortions."

The Stand report noted, "Legal authorities say Welch’s ruling misses the point of both the state’s abortion and religious liberty laws. Indiana’s RFRA — like the national RFRA signed by President Bill Clinton — prohibits the government from substantially burdening anyone’s religious beliefs except 'in furtherance of a compelling governmental interest,' and it requires politicians to use 'the least restrictive means' possible. The government has a compelling interest in protecting innocent life, and no less restrictive means are available than prohibiting abortion."

The Stand reported the arguments in the case align with a strategy known to be used by the Satanic Temple to fight pro-life protections.

Even many married couples say they will not bring any children into such a cursed and short-lived world. And of course, much of the globe is freezing this winter because of the “Climate Change Cult’s” mass-suicidal war on fossil fuels. Never mind that 1,100 scientists and scholars recently signed a document affirming “There is no climate emergency.”

Meanwhile, the “Wokeness Cult” intimidates millions into living in continual fear of saying, writing or even thinking the “wrong thing,” on threat of being shunned, “cancelled,” ostracized from their peer group or fired from their job – a scenario jarringly reminiscent of the dreaded “thoughtcrime” accusation in George Orwell’s “1984.”

The United Nations General Assembly voted on Wednesday to hold an event commemorating Israel’s establishment as a “catastrophe.”

In a majority, 90 member countries voted in favor of the move with 30 dissenting, and 47 abstaining from the vote, according to the Jerusalem Post. The United States and most of the European Union came out against the proposal.

The word “Nakba” is an Arabic word meaning catastrophe, according to the Jerusalem Post. The Palestinians use to the term to refer to Israel’s establishment in 1948, which is observed annually on May 15.

In 1948, the British Mandate expired allowing Israel to announce the formation of a Jewish state and its independence. The Palestinians, however, claim the day as a time of mourning due to the displacement of their people following the Palestinian government’s rejection of the two-state proposal put forth by the United Nations in 1947.

The U.N.’s Division for Palestinian Rights of the Secretariat is responsible for organizing the event which will be held on May 15, 2023, at the U.N. headquarters in New York.

Israel’s permanent representative to the U.N. Gilad Erdan called the resolution “extreme and baseless.”

An Ohio court Tuesday upheld a legal pause on separations for airmen who have requested religious exemptions to the mandatory COVID-19 vaccine after finding that the Air Force “wrongly” relied on overly broad reasoning to turn down the waivers.

The 6th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in an ongoing class action suit prosecuted by roughly 10,000 unvaccinated active-duty, reserve and National Guard airmen who have either had their requests to avoid the vaccine on religious grounds denied or still await a decision. A circuit court in March ordered the Department of Defense (DOD), which has mandated vaccinations for all members of the military, to hold off on disciplining or separating airmen while the lawsuit progresses.

The DOD “wrongly relied on its ‘broadly formulated’ reasons for the vaccine mandate to deny specific exemptions to the Plaintiffs, especially since it has granted secular exemptions to their colleagues,” the court opinion said.

In addition, the latest opinion from Ohio’s 6th Circuit court alleges that the Air Force adopted a “uniform” policy of denying religious exemption requests, but not exemption requests made for secular reasons, regardless of the requester’s individual circumstances.

The Senate voted 61-36 on Tuesday to pass a bill that would enshrine gay marriage in federal law, requiring individual states to recognize another state's legal marriage.

The Respect Marriage Act now moves to the House, where it is expected to pass in the final days of Democratic control and be signed by President Joe Biden.

Opponents contend the bill's stated protections for religious liberty would not stand up in court. They argue the bakers, florists and others in the wedding industry who have been punished for acting on their belief that marriage is a lifelong conjugal union between one man and one woman would be even more susceptible to prosecution.

An amendment to safeguard religious liberty. proposed by Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, failed, 49-48.

"Without the protections provided in my amendment, it will be open season on the rights of the faithful," he wrote on Twitter before the vote.

A dozen Republican senators voted for the bill: Roy Blunt of Missouri, Richard Burr of North Carolina, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Susan Collins of Maine, Joni Ernst of Iowa, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming , Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Rob Portman of Ohio, Mitt Romney of Utah, Dan Sullivan of Alaska, Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Todd Young of Indiana.

A report at the Gateway Pundit noted, "Defenders of the series claim the scene where children are holding the letters which spell out 'We Love You Satan' is supposed to say, 'We Love You Santa' and is just one of the many comedic scenes in the movies but parents aren’t laughing."

The company on social media was accused of promoting its agenda: "They don't hide the[ir] agenda anymore."

Following the passionate testimony of poll workers and voters expressing anger and frustration, the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to certify their election canvass ahead of a state deadline Monday.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, who lost to Secretary of State Katie Hobbs by less than 18,000 votes, according to the official count, has charged voting tabulator and printing malfunctions suppressed the vote on Election Day vote, when most of her supporters planned to cast their ballots.

During the public testimony, a poll observer said that at 7 p.m. on Election Day, when the polls closed, there were 675 people waiting in line at his voting location. Only 150 of those people ended up voting, he said.

Charlie Kirk, founder of the conservative Turning Point USA, said via Twitter that based on the testimony Monday, "it's very safe to assume" that among 223 polling centers in the county, 200 people per polling center were disenfranchised, a total of 44,600 votes were not. Among those votes about 70% likely voted Republican.

Another poll observer testified that a vote tabulating machine that was found not to be working the night before the election during a test run, nevertheless, was used the next day.

Janelle Weaver of Goodyear, Arizona, said she was volunteering at a poll center at Valley Baptist Church in Tonopah, west of Phoenix, beginning at 5:40 a.m. on Election Day.

(FOX NEWS) -- A dean at the University of Cambridge in the U.K. came to the defense of a junior research fellow whose sermon last Sunday about Jesus Christ having a "trans body" reportedly left outraged congregants "in tears."

Dr. Michael Banner, the dean of Trinity College, said Joshua Heath raised "legitimate" speculation in his Evensong sermon during which the researcher claimed from the pulpit of Trinity College chapel that non-erotic portrayals of Jesus' penis in historical paintings "urge a welcoming rather than hostile response towards the raised voices of trans people," according to the Daily Telegraph.

"In Christ's simultaneously masculine and feminine body in these works, if the body of Christ as these works suggest the body of all bodies, then his body is also the trans body," Heath said.

An elementary school in California will allow an "After School Satan Club" to begin meeting in its facilities starting in December, according to reports.

The clubs are sponsored by The Satanic Temple, based in Salem, Massachusetts, and have been set up specifically to oppose a number of Christian organizations that hold meetings for children who wish to attend after school hours.

Those would include programs such as the Good News Club, which is hosted by Child Evangelism Fellowship.

It was a Supreme Court ruling from 20 years ago, in Good News Club v. Milford Central School, in which school officials tried to banish the message of Christianity, that said when schools allow one organization to rent facilities, they cannot discriminate against another organization based on its viewpoint.

Religion News documents that the Satan Club will start Dec. 5 at Golden Hills Elementary School in Tehachapi, about 115 miles north of Los Angeles.

The announcement comes from June Everett, a campaign director for the Satan Clubs. Such events are "set up at the request of local parents, educators or other community members, according to the Satanic Temple website. Everett said a parent reached out a few months ago requesting the club, which will gather once a month through May 2023," the report said.
