(ISRAEL NATIONAL NEWS) -- The U.S .Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned against the use of frozen falafel balls due to suspicions that they may be contaminated with E. coli O121.

According to the CDC, "Epidemiologic data show that Earth Grown brand frozen falafel sold at ALDI stores may be contaminated with E. coli O121 and may be making people sick."

As of last week, 20 people had been infected with the strain, across six states. Illness reports ranged from July 13, 2022, to September 13, 2022, and the ages of the sick individuals from less than one year old to 71 years, with a median age of 31. Seventy-nine percent (79%) of those affected are female, CDC added.

The study on "Social Media and Mental Health," led by Dr. Roee Levy of the Berglas School of Economics at Tel Aviv University together with colleagues Prof. Alexey Makarin and Prof. LuTca Braghieri, zeroed in on the mental health trends of U.S. college students, the network's original target demographic, during the first two-and-a-half years of its operation (2004-2006).

A detailed examination of data showed a correlation between a "statistically significant worsening in mental health symptoms, especially depression and anxiety" and the rapid introduction of the social media network.

A detailed examination of data showed a correlation between a "statistically significant worsening in mental health symptoms, especially depression and anxiety" and the rapid introduction of the social media network.

Some of the benchmarks include a 20% rise in those who reported anxiety disorders; an increase of 25% to 27% in the proportion of students expected to experience moderate to severe depression; an additional 7% of students experienced "severe depression" since gaining access to the network.
The introduction of Facebook, the study found, led to increased utilization of mental healthcare services.

New study reveals No. 1 cause of pregnancy-related deaths

'The majority were preventable'

By Laurel Duggan
Daily Caller News Foundation

Mental health issues were the leading cause of pregnancy-related deaths from 2017 to 2019, according to a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) study released Tuesday.

Of all pregnancy-related deaths, 22.7% were related to suicide, overdose, substance abuse or other mental health factors, according to the CDC. Mental health issues represented nearly double the second-leading cause, hemorrhage (13.7%), which was followed by cardiac and coronary conditions (12.8%) and infections (9.2%).

The report paints a much clearer picture of pregnancy-related deaths in this country,” Wanda Barfield, M.D., director of CDC’s Division of Reproductive Health said in a press relese. “The majority of pregnancy-related deaths were preventable, highlighting the need for quality improvement initiatives in states, hospitals, and communities that ensure all people who are pregnant or postpartum get the right care at the right time.”

White women had the highest percentage of mental health-related deaths at 34.8%, followed by Hispanic (24.1%), black (7%) and Asian (3.1%) women, the study found.

Parasitic worm that causes cancer-mimicking disease appears in U.S., those living near dogs be extra aware

A rare, potentially deadly parasitic disease that's endemic to Europe and Asia has been rising in Canada, underscoring the importance of strong border security.

Alveolar echinococcosis, a disease caused by the tapeworm Echinococcus multilocularis, was likely brought over to North America by dogs from Europe, according to Gizmodo.   Domestic dogs and wild canines such as coyotes are the preferred carriers of this dangerous parasite, but humans could also become infected through their interactions with their pets, so dog owners should be on alert.  Fortunately, scientists say it is rare for humans to contract alveolar echinococcosis.

Do you REALLY need to walk 10,000 steps a day?

Magic number was invented in a clever Japanese marketing ploy after the 1964 Olympics... and six decades later there's still 'NO evidence' to back it

You would be forgiven for assuming it was borne out of decades of painstaking research into the precise number of steps needed to keep our body in tip-top condition. It was, however, a clever marketing ploy by a Japanese company trying to sell pedometers in the wake of the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. At that time, there was an increased focus on fitness in the host nation and firms had tried to capitalise on the craze surrounding the Games (pictured, an advert for the original gadget)

But where did the magical number even come from?

You would be forgiven for assuming it was borne out of decades of painstaking research into the precise number of steps needed to keep our body in tip-top condition.

It was, however, a clever marketing ploy by a Japanese company trying to sell pedometers in the wake of the 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games. At that time, there was an increased focus on fitness in the host nation and firms had tried to capitalise on the craze surrounding the Games.

One campaign involved the marketing of Yamasa's pedometer called the Manpo-kei, which literally means '10,000 steps metre' in Japanese.

But the arbitrary figure was never grounded in science. Instead, the number was selected because the benchmark was a nice, round memorable figure.

Professor Tom Yates, one of the world's leading experts in the field of physical activity and sedentary behaviour at the University of Leicester, told MailOnline: 'There was no evidence for it to start with.'

New Research Shows Strange Bodily Phenomenon Beginning In 2020

image from images.dailycaller.com

Embalmers around the country are reportedly finding staggering increases in the number of corpses presenting with “fibrous” clots post-mortem.

Alabama funeral director Richard Hirschman told The Epoch Times that, prior to 2020, he found these clots in around 5% to 10% of the bodies he embalmed. This number has since increased to between 50% and 70%, Hirschman said. According to results from a lab in Texas, clots lack a number of key health markers for human blood, including iron, potassium, zinc, and magnesium. This suggests that the clots were not formed in blood, but further research is needed to identify the root cause and origin of these clots in bodies, The Epoch Times continued.

The clots range in size and are long, worm-like and can stretch from a few inches to several feet long, according to The Epoch Times. Preliminary research suggests that the clots are predominantly made of protein cells, and that the production of the clots is brought about by spike proteins in the body, according to statements made to the outlet.

A number of embalmers spoke with The Epoch Times, including Wallace Hooker, who suggested that less skilled embalmers might not find the clots while draining the body of blood. (RELATED: Germany Reports More Blood Clot Cases Associated With AstraZeneca Vaccine)

While some of the embalmers were quick to note there could be a relation between the clots, COVID-19 and/or the COVID-19 vaccines, most suggested this as a cause without having conducted the necessary scientific investigation to confirm their hypothesis, according to The Epoch Times.

Scientists use diamonds for skin treatments, eliminating need for biopsies

Much like trucks making deliveries, they can deliver various medications to intended targets

(ISRAEL365 NEWS) -- The skin is one of the largest and most accessible organs in the human body, but penetrating its deep layers for medicinal and cosmetic treatments still eludes science.

Although there are some remedies — such as nicotine patches to stop smoking — administered through the skin, this method of treatment is rare since the particles that penetrate must be no larger than 100 nanometers (one-thousandth of a centimeter).

Creating effective tools using such tiny particles is a great challenge. Because the particles are so small and difficult to see, it is equally challenging to determine their exact location inside the body – information necessary to ensure that they reach the intended target tissue. Today such information is obtained through invasive, often painful, biopsies.

By Enrico ~ The Epoch Times

A group of independent German scientists found toxic components—mostly metallic—in all the COVID vaccine samples they analyzed, “without exception” using modern medical and physical measuring techniques.

The Working Group for COVID Vaccine Analysis says that some of the toxic elements found inside the AstraZeneca, Pfizer, and Moderna vaccine vials were not listed in the ingredient lists from the manufacturers.

The following metallic elements were found in the vaccines:

  • Alkali metals: caesium (Cs), potassium (K)
  • Alkaline earth metals: calcium (Ca), barium (Ba)
  • transition metals: cobalt (Co), iron (Fe), chromium (Cr), titanium (Ti)
  • Rare earth metals: cerium (Ce), gadolinium (Gd)
  • Mining group/metal: aluminum (Al)
  • Carbon group: silicon (Si) (partly support material/slide)
  • Oxygen group: sulphur (S)

These substances, furthermore, “are visible under the dark-field microscope as distinctive and complex structures of different sizes, can only partially be explained as a result of crystallization or decomposition processes, [and] cannot be explained as contamination from the manufacturing process,” the researchers found.

The scientists claim that their results have been cross-confirmed using the following measuring techniques: “Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX), Mass Spectroscopy (MS), Inductively Coupled Plasma Analysis (ICP), Bright Field Microscopy (BFM), Dark Field Microscopy (DFM) and Live Blood Image Diagnostics, as well as analysis of images using Artificial Intelligence.”

The analysts explain that they have been cooperating with other groups in different countries that have been executing similar investigations and have obtained results consistent with their own.

“The results from our analysis of the vaccines can, consequently, be regarded as cross-validated,” the summary report of their findings states.

Man tests positive for COVID-19, monkeypox and HIV all at once

A man in Italy tested positive for SARS-CoV-2, monkeypox and HIV all at once in July after having unprotected sex during a trip to Spain, becoming the first recorded patient to have these three viruses in conjunction, according to a new case report published in the Journal of Infection last week.

By TZVI JOFFRE - The Jerusalem Post

Monkeypox is spread through close contact with infectious material from skin lesions, objects contaminated with the virus, seminal fluids and secretions from the throat. Most of the cases recorded in the most recent wave of infection have been reported among men who had sex with men.

The patient in the case report, an Italian 36-year-old male, spent five days in Spain in June. Nine days after returning home from his trip, he developed a fever, sore throat, fatigue, headache and inflammation in his groin area. Shortly afterward, he tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 and within a day he developed a rash on his left arm. The day after, small, painful blisters appeared on his torso, lower limbs, face and rear.

Due to the spread of the blisters that began to evolve into pustules with a depression in the middle of them, he decided to go to the emergency room of the Policlinico “G. Rodolico - San Marco” University Hospital in Catania, Italy and was transferred to the Infectious Diseases unit at the hospital.

After being admitted, the patient reported that he had unprotected sex with men during his stay in Spain. He was tested for monkeypox and tested positive for the West African variant of the virus, which has been found to be responsible for the outbreak in Spain. Even after 20 days, monkeypox tests continued to return positive, with the physicians stressing that this could mean that patient may remain contagious for several days after clinical remission.

Robot made of magnetic slime could grab objects inside your body ~ Could Be Your Next Doctor In 2022

Researchers at the Chinese University of Hong Kong have created a magnetic slime robot to employ during surgery. When external magnets are used on the slime, it may be controlled by magnetic particles that are present.

Despite being hazardous, the magnetic particles may eventually be safe to utilize in the human digestive system thanks to a protective covering that is being created.

Black magnetic slime robot in C shape

What Is Magnetic Slime Robot Made Of?

Polyvinyl alcohol-borax, a polymer, is used to make the robot. The robot is loaded with magnetic particles inside the polymer. The silicon coating is meant to make it safe for use inside a body even though magnetic particles are known to be hazardous to people.

The robot is not independent; instead, it is moved forward, rotates, or adopts the shape of an O or a C by means of outside magnets. Li Zhang, a co-author of the study that introduces the new robot, notes that the substance employed is a non-Newtonian fluid, as reported by The Guardian. It may therefore act both like a solid and like a fluid.

Is It Safe To Use

Even if the slime itself shows promise, there is still a long way to go before it can be used without harm, at least in a medical setting. Neodymium magnet particles are among the hazardous compounds that make up the magnetic slime. Therefore, before using the slime in surgeries or procedures, according to scientists, we will need to make sure they cannot seep into the body.

The magnetic slime is currently encased in a silica layer by the researchers. Sand's primary constituent, silica, should create a presumably secure barrier around it. According to one of the slime's developers, the efficiency of that layer will depend on how long you keep the slime within your body.

(STUDY FINDS) -- The summer season is tick season and that means one thing — Lyme disease cases are going to rise in the United States. Now, a concerning new report finds rural communities have seen cases of the tick-borne illness skyrocket in recent years.

Over the last 15 years, from 2007 to 2021, insurance claims for Lyme disease diagnoses have exploded by 357 percent in rural areas. Although people typically encounter disease-carrying ticks in the woods and tall grassy areas, researchers from FAIR Health say urban communities are seeing a surge as well. The non-profit says urban areas across the U.S. have seen a 65-percent rise in Lyme cases since 2007.

Study authors analyzed a database of more than 36 billion privately-billed healthcare claims to discover this alarming trend.

Chipping away at cancer: Young pharmacist-researcher wants to revolutionize treatment

At age 28, she's driving force behind tiny chip that tests several procedures on same tumor in record time

(CTECH) -- Eliana Steinberg was a pharmacist in a pharmacy in Jerusalem when she encountered a patient who changed her life: "He had prostate cancer in an advanced stage with metastases, and he would come to the pharmacy several times a month. I developed personal relationships with him and his wife," she tells Calcalist.

"It was really sad to see before my eyes the progress of his illness and his helplessness, especially when he was facing difficult treatments, which he was not at all sure would be successful. I wanted to help him practically with the disease itself, beyond giving explanations on how to take the medicines. I wanted to ease his suffering."

Steinberg decided to apply for a master's degree in a track for excellence in nanotechnology at the School of Pharmacy of the Hebrew University. Since then the studies have developed into a doctorate, and in the last four years she has developed a method that may cause a huge revolution in the way cancer patients are treated: a transparent chip, which with the help of a tiny sample from a cancer tumor examines a series of possible treatments to see which of them is the most effective, and in record time, with the results obtained in less than two weeks.

Vitamin D Supplements Do Not Reduce Bone Fractures, Large Study Finds
vitamin D supplements spilled out on a table

Seniors who take vitamin D supplements to improve their bone health and ward off fractures are just wasting their time and money, a major new study has found.

These supplements did nothing to reduce their average risk of bone fractures, researchers found in a randomized trial testing vitamin D against a placebo.

"In generally healthy adults, these results do not support the use of vitamin D supplements to reduce fracture risk," said lead researcher Dr. Meryl LeBoff, chief of the Calcium and Bone Section at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. "We found that supplemental vitamin D did not reduce fractures in U.S. participants."

Researchers Suspect New Variants of Rapidly Progressing Brain Degenerating Diseases From COVID-19 Vaccines

BY HEALTH 1+1 AND MARINA ZHANG

Things have not been the same since June 2021 for 53-year-old Douglas Howey from Colorado.

Around a year after he received the second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, the 6 foot 4 and a half inch paraplegic man who once weighed 262 pounds lost over 100 pounds after the sudden onset of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), an incurable and fatal disease that gradually kills a person’s motor neurons.

Though he never told his doctors that he started developing symptoms a month after the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, his family thinks that his sudden sickness a month later and dramatic weight loss within weeks seemed like too much of a coincidence.

This suspicion was further confirmed after Linda Howey, Douglas’s mother, heard a podcast by Del Bigtree where Dr. Stephanie Seneff, a senior researcher from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, talked about her research on possible links between neurodegenerative diseases and the COVID-19 mRNA vaccines.

Covid infection more likely depending on your blood type, experts warn

The link between blood types and a Covid infection

Blood types may determine your susceptibility to catching Covid Image: Getty Images/Science Photo Library RF)

By Jessica Knibbs

Despite rapidly rising Covid cases, some people have still managed to avoid a coronavirus infection. Your blood type could be one such reason, say studies.

Covid-19 infections continue to rise in the UK, despite the government's plans to live with the disease.

The number of people in hospital in England who have tested positive for Covid-19 climbed above 10,000 for the first time since April, reaching 10,658 on July 4, up 36% week-on-week.

An estimated 2.3 million across the UK tested positive for Covid-19 in the week ending 24 June, recording a sharp 32% rise from a week earlier.

With a stark rise in infections many may be worried about their risk of catching the virus whether for the first time or again.

Turns out your risk may be significantly lowered depending on the type of blood you have, says research.

Blood types and susceptibility to a Covid-19 infection was first hypothesised by researchers in China back in March 2020.

These ideas were further echoed by a paper out of Columbia University a month later.

Interestingly, DNA testing company 23andMe further bolstered this theory when it was able to link customers and Covid infections among 750,000 people who were diagnosed and hospitalised for Covid-19 - and those with type O blood types were better protected.

Dr. Marty Makary (pictured), a public health expert from Johns Hopkins University, is a critic of both school closures during the COVID-19 pandemic and in vaccines for children aged four and younger

Two of America's top health agencies are reportedly hemorrhaging staff as poor decision-making, described by staff as 'bad science,' has led to low morale.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) are both suffering staff shortages, according to Dr. Marty Makary, a top public-health expert at Johns Hopkins University, writes at Common Sense, the Substack run by former New York Times columnist, Bari Weiss.

Major decisions made by the agencies that hurt morale included support for masking in schools, school closures during the pandemic and the authorization of COVID-19 vaccines for children four and under.

Both agencies, along with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have been mired in controversy throughout the pandemic for inconsistent messaging and for decision-making that didn't seem to line up with available science.
